how long do batterys last?

someone mentioned a vent tube on the battery? anyone have pictures? i didnt see any ports for a tube i did however see a rubber hose that wasnt hooked up to anything

All acid batteries have a vent nipple, usually on the top on one side and facing down.

I believe that the gel / sealed batteries do not.
