Simple question...what does the collective wisdom say is the lowest you can lower a vmax before practicle problems arise? 2 inches? 3 inches? more?
What has everyones experience been with rad interference etc?
:hmmm:

You can drop the front 2" with stiffer springs.
Rear 1",Any lower and the pipes start hitting and get smashed. Some run 11" shocks.
An after market seat is a good way to get lower,so are radials.

+1 to Shawn...

I am 2" lower in front and 1.5 in back and I am going to end up going to 12" shocks as the 11.5's are too low for my 18" rim and tire...:bang head:

interesting
so two inches front and stiffen her up and your good...
Probably better if still if you go to a 17 inch wheel tire combo, eh?

I had mine 2" lower in front and 1.5" in back. Seemingly no ill effects tho' without my higher footpegs I think I would have drug the pegs.

I'm back to stock heigth and I "think" it handles better this way....

Depends... I am running a Carrozzeria 18" front wheel which is about 10 pounds lighter than the stock front and 1" wider to boot. I think lighter is the way to go, not smaller. IMO the smaller front wheel looks goofy. But opinions are like a holes... Everyone has one...:thumbs up:

It's all about what YOU want and like.:coolgleamA:

Sorry, to butt in here - but I think that comment would make a really good signature

" opinions are like holes - everyone has one "

That's good ! :rofl_200:

we've got one vmax here with 2" in the front (through the forks) and 11.5" rear shocks. It also is stretched out 3" and shock relocated back 1.5" which effectively lowers it another .5" - so we are down 2" in the front and rear. Not only that but it's got a 17" rear wheel which lowers it even more. Combine that with the seat we put on it and you've got one of the lowest seat height vmax'es around.

I know a few in here know the bike - It's Kevin Rowls 92 Vmax. He doesn't have any troubles getting around or handling the curves with it.

Can't say I coined the phrase but feel free to use it...:thumbs up:

This is the lowest VMax I have ever seen. It's for sale in the Buy and Sell section here and I went and checked it out. There is some really nice custom work on it. It is chopper low, the photos don't really show it until you stand beside it.

I've lowered 2" in the front forks, 17" front rim and 120/70 radial.

Rear is 1.5" lower in the shocks, 17" rear rim and 190/50 radial.

It's low.

Handles fine with just a rider but I can't take the bike over to anything like its true cornering capability without scraping the footpegs or sidestand.

Headers and crossovers will hit some speed humps and curbs if you take then too quickly.

All these clearances are a real problem with a pillion.

I like the bikes profile and don't want to change it so I will raise the footpegs, mod the sidestand, get variable height shocks for the rear and customize the headers to get a higher tighter fit to the bike.

Weird... Your's looks fine with a 17" Hmm... Maybe it's the sportbike fenders that makes them look goofy...:hmmm:

I think 17" setups look goofy if the standard guards aren't remounted so the bike looks cosmetically the same as the 18" wheel setup.

I achieved that effect with the lower rear shocks and the lowering block on the front fork brace (from Pegasus U.K.)...because it did look goofy without it.

I've gone 17" on both ends with mine. Tried the Hayabusa front fender, and it is 1 ugly biaaatch. Looks much better with my artfibras front fender. The artfibras front looks 10x better than the stock to begin with.

Pictures posted soon..I've been down for 6 weeks nursing this left hand.

Okay...I've waited long enough. You guys failed me....I guess I'll have to do it myself.

How low can I go? No limit if I can get on my knees.

Thanks gentlemen...

Iv got R1 forks and 17 inch wheel in the garage (got the tire today) and im NOT using drop down triple clamps....looks like it will be a full 3 inch drop in front.

Its the start of some wild experimentation and maybe some epiphanies along the way!

I may reroute the exhaust....i may raise the rear...we will see as we go... yup got a new garage heater so this winter will be in the "church of skinned knuckles" (as long as i can get the tv out there so i don't miss the Leafs)

You may want to take new measurements. You'll be over 4" when you are all done with it. It will be so low it will drag just trying to move it around.

Yah,My max is about as low as Kevin's.I have header clearance problems when trying to load it onto trailers.
