Have you gotten your lobster license and gone out to pick-up dinner off the ocean floor? Yes, that's right, you can get
free food just by getting the lobster license & a mask/fins/snorkel, along w/a bully net & a 'tickle stick.' When you go swimming, those FL lobsters backpedal faster than a Tulsa tourist caught in a Patterson NJ alley at midnight!
After today ya gotta wait awhile to get 'em legally again.
Winding up school for the summer term, I'll try to get up to see you in-person after this coming week. Yes, this is a good place to be after living in the NE all those years. It's even better in Jan. when you go outside to feel the evening breeze, and return to your "Florida room" to watch the national weather news about another killer blizzard dumping feet of snow on your old stomping grounds! And, year-round riding! Just be defensive, and assume the other person is going to do something stupid. It happens constantly. Turning right from the left lane, turning left in-front of you (they being oncoming traffic), stopping dead in the middle of the street until they decide where they want to go, agressive drivers using their cars as lethal weapons, people pulling guns in traffic, people leaving their vehicles to assault you, all-this and more, if you ride/drive here long-enough.
I cleaned-up after them for many years. Now I teach others how to do that.
ANd now, "New Resident Orientation": if you don't like seafood, it's time to develop a taste for it. Here's a partial list you can start with:
http://www.palmbeachcounty.com/directory/Restaurants/Seafood/
This is
by no means 'all-inclusive!'
Several good chains are Flanagan's, Legal Sea Foods, & Bonefish Grill, there are others.
One of my favorite restaurants is not on the list above, it's in Boynton Beach, on the water (Intracoastal Waterway) & is "Two Georges"

Lots of atmosphere & safe parking for the bikes.
ANother place not on the water but literally two minutes from Two Georges is Hurricane Alley. This is the kind of place you bring your out-of-town friends you care about to experience the funky side of FL cuisine.

The following article from the local weekly alternative paper (New Times, it comes out on Wed. I believe, free you get it at restaurants and shopping centers in little racks where it is stored for distribution, good for 'what to do' events for the coming weeks. Just ignore the escort ads and the pain clinic ads in the back pages) is a good one & it actually mentions the two restaurants I already recommended.

OK, your assignment is to study these places and to decide at which one we're gonna do the 'face-to-face' welcome to FL!
p.s.: lotsa unmarked cops, even w/out-of-state plates! You have 30 days to get your FL driver's license, auto insurance, and FL vehicle license once you decide to live here. And no, you can't take nine months to make-up your mind!
p.p.s.: no insurance required for FL motorcycles! No-kidding!
