ive really enjoyed time on my bike especially during the group rides through the twisties in the texas hill country. but going home often we will hit the highway. Going down I10 at 85 mph isnt a great place to be on the vmax.. what options are out there for windscreens for our bikes? 2002 model

The OEM accessory and the GIVI, I have both, the GIVI is a bit larger.

I did 1000 mile round trip total out to Johnstown and back...most all highway was 90mph 5500 rpm. Full face helmet and no windshield. I was pretty comfortable (for not having floorboards, windshield/fairing, backrest) but if I had an open face helmet I would have been killed by bugs and an occasional road debris that my helmet deflected.

I went ahead and redid the front top end. Removed the snub nosed Head light and the mount. Put shock mounts for n 8" aftermarket Headlight. Did this so I could mount a Puig 0869H Windscreen. Did the same for my 89' and I really liked it. Plus I'm a cheap-scape. Paid around $42 Free shipping on Amazon for the Puig. Cost of headlight, brackets totaled about $40. I also just installed an LED Bulb (H4 P43t) and get more viewing and people can see ME better

Yamaha V-Max - Gustafsson Plastics
Gen. 1

Gustaffson Plastics in St. Augustine FL for OEM height, or up-to +5" (you specify) to route the air higher, above your helmet. I have used them and are satisfied with their products and service.
Fire medic. Looking at getting a givi A123 or the gustafsson. But not sure what the gustafsson base, +2, +5. Look like. Do u have any pictures of the gustafsson versions for comparison or assessment actually on a bike. I guess I would default to the +5. Appreciate help with the choice

That is only a plastic windshield and is not the metal mounting bracket! Gustafsson manufactures replacement windshields for either the OEM Yamaha VMax accessory windshield, or the GIVI. The sizes they offer are same as the stock or you can specify them taller. If you're 6' I think the +2 inches would be a good choice. If you're 'way-over that, then you may want something taller, and you can tell them what additional size you wish.

John Furber and me at Daytona Beach, a couple years ago. I'm 5' 10" so he is a candidate for the +5 inches Gustafsson plastic shield.

Well crap. I thought it was the whole thing pictured. Ordered the a123 last night and figured I may try the gustafsson on the other bike. So ... Both givi and gustafsson screens need the metal mount acquired separately? Any good source U recommend?

The GIVI comes with all the mounting pieces and the plastic screen. The Gustafsson is only the plastic screen
