I put off trying to scrape up a set of bags for my '85 and now I'm stuck.
A friend offered me a set of leather bags he had in his garage, for free.

They were old as dirt, and had girly fringe all over them. They were so small I doubt I could get my lunch in one of them, much less a CPAP machine, electronics, and clothes/rainsuit... (See picture - this is pathetic) I cut the fringe off in an attempt to make them presentable, but no luck.

Unless something great happens, Max stays home - again...... :bang head:

Let the abuse begin!

I've got a similar set hanging somewhere in my garage....:rofl_200:

I went back out to the garage and tore the bags off the bike, and started to THINK.
I needed a solid place to bolt the bag to, and something other than the pipe to sit it on.
OK, the rear screw that holds on the sidecover looks about right, and I could set the bag on the rear footpeg. Out comes the drill and the bag bolts nicely and sits neatly on the peg. A couple heavy zipties secures it around the peg mount. No problem removing the seat to refuel, and the bags actually look good there. Pack light, carry the rainsuit on the seat with a couple bungees - this is actually gonna work, I think! The CPAP will definitely have to stay home, and I might have to turn my socks & shorts inside out to get another wearing out of them, but if it means I can ride Max out to Thunder, so be it!!

I just use a seat bag from tourmaster on mine that bunjees to the bike or just a small duffle bag and use bunjees to hold it on the back seat. Works fine always for me and cheap way to do it.

I bought a small backpack and wore it on some trips ,what was nice with the shaved seat is it lets the backpack rest on the passenger seat and not on you.
