Well in the last year I built a 1982 YZ490 and blew it to pieces...:bang head:
Then I got a 1992 Yz250...and blew it to pieces:bang head:
Today I picked up my notoriously fast 1977 YZ400.

Lets see if I can make this one last a bit longer!
Got it for free, ganna see if I can get it cleaned up and back together in time to use it for transport at the pits of the local time trials in 22 days.:eusa_dance:

Say it with me now...FREEEEEEBBBBBBIIIIIIIEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can't beat free!! 2 strokes are notorious for exploding when the crank seals get old and worn out or cracked from age. They will leak air and lean the mixture, which causes large problems. You might want to check them out and replace them, they are usually pretty cheap.

If you think the crank seals are old and leaking, which on stuff from the 70s and 80's is almost guaranteed to be the case, run the main jet a couple sizes larger than you think it needs, or what it runs stock.....that'll cover for any air leaking and keep it from leaning too much.

My old Blaster had leaky crank seals(transmission oil magically vanished when riding), I jetted it 5 over stock(stock was like a 150, I put a 155 in it) and the plug was always perfect color whereas with the stock jet it was a very light tan/grayish...on the lean side. I ran the piss outta that thing too and it never blew up.

Gotta 360 Enduro Yammie I am 'sometimes' workin' on right now. Other expenses seem to take precedence. One day...
