Id first confirm that the battery is ok, i have see it before where some guys(bikers) lol bump the on/off switch to the off position, so check that to, also sticking starter button will cause this but i think your headlight would be off not sure, any how if you got stock turn signals you will be ok but if you got led signals you will notice they will blink alot faster. There is a cure for that to on here. Good luck im sure you will get it.

I am familiar with the starter button sticking. I found out about that the hard way! I was on my way home from work around 9pm one night and was fine until I lost the assistance of the City and Street lights! When this happened I was in a....not so nice area and could not just pull over. So I rode in the dark without a headlight for about 2 miles - My turn signals worked and I kept them going the entire time so that people could see me! I ended up calling for help and tailgating my niece all of the way home. I never realized how dark it got around my new home until this happened....Now I know! :)

After countless hours checking fuses, grounds, connections - We checked on this forum and found that the he starter button sticks and the bike will turn on but if the button doesn't come back out - the headlight won't work. :) Lesson Learned! What I don't know is how to fix that....It will still stick from time to time. I have learned to check the light and just pull the button out if its stuck - is there an actual fix?

Perfect! Thank you for that!

Back to the battery - I dug out my paperwork from buying my current battery and it's a Yuasa and I bought it Nov 15, 2012. Does anyone know if that's a standard life span of that battery?

I rarely got more than two trouble free years out of a Yuasa in several bikes, jet skis and lawn mowers.

Admittedly my maintenance practices might have left a little to be desired.

That's what's nice about a odyssey, there is no maintenance, a plus on the hard to get to battery spot on the Max, and they are usually good for at least 6 years without trickle charging if your electrical system is leak free and charging is good.

I've had mine for 5 years, a year and a half in a hot ass Texas garage sitting in the shelf with no charger on it while building a motor.

I never had much luck with the OEM SIZE Yuasa batteries. I've have temendous results after doing Sean's battery box mod to fit the larger size battery with more cranking amps. And I can pick up that size battery almost any place for a bargain price. But I do still have to check acid level a couple times per year - for piece of mind.

Battery box mod discussed here: http://vmaxforum.net/showthread.php?t=113&highlight=larger+battery+modification

My local shop is suggesting a Western Power Sports Lithium Light Battery if they can't get my current one to hold a charge.

If have to buy a new battery make sure you buy a AGM type battery.

The charger and the battery I use are in the pictures below.

I hope it works out.

She's suggesting (based on the recommendation made by her contact) to install a Lithium Ion battery. They're probably more reliable than a lead/acid, but less so than an AGM.

Also, they're a "green" alternative.

Not a bad solution.

I am on my 2nd odyssey pc680 since 2005 i get them at battery mart .com like 120 bucks.

The Lithium Batteries don't seem to be any more green (able to be re-cycled) than AGM or regular Lead-Acid Batteries according to this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battery_recycling

I personally just can't see paying 4 times as much for an lithium battery unless you really have a good reason (such as shedding weight for drag racing).
And I've had the same UPG UB12180 AGM (Panasonic replacement) for almost 7 years now, there's no telling if those Lithium will last 1 year or 10 since we just don't have that info yet.

Ok took the battery to the shop and it has a charge but it will not hold a charge when they laid tested it. So new battery. Unfortunately the only option they have is another Yuasa....luckily it was cheap so I can be up and going tonight ( I hope!) I will probably order an odessey and a battery tender soon though

Actually, I wasn't referring to their ease of recycling. I was speaking to the fact that they're not considered "hazardous waste" like your typical lead/acid battery is. "Green" encompasses lots of environmental topics.

It works! I am still going to watch the volts in case there is something else going on but for now....I'm back!
