For you iPhone users. There a lots of cool apps out there for motorcycles/racing data logging etc. We can post an app here and maybe get some feedback from the forum members.

Here's one I'm interested in called DYNOLICIOUS . Has anyone used it? From what I'm told and have read it's supposed to be very accurate. It uses the iPhones accelerometer for data collection. It's a bit pricey as far as apps go... $12.99. If you search for dyno on your iTunes acct. you'll see that there are actually more apps like this one.

i believe innovate also has an a/f gauge app

Few weeks ago we got a very huge typhoon, the water went up to the roof in 20 min for many people in Manila. Good thing, I'm living on a high spot.
From July to Dec, it's the rainy season. Unpredictable rain and 20 typhoons a year more or less strong.
After it does look crazy but in reality it's not that bad. Just crazy 2 times a year.

Nice stuff, but before I will need a water proof casing if ever I get an iphone lol

It's called an Otter case. Waterproof, and armoured (drop-proof)

I just got my Iphone last night with one on it.

I remember trying one called Pocketdyno, because it was free. When it decided to work it was accurate, at least on my minibike where I tried it. I put in the weight of the bike+me, and it reported it had 6.1 HP...the motor was rated at 6.5 so that seems just about spot on. Problem is it rarely ever detected the "launch"...maybe 1 out of 10 times it worked.

There's one called "g-tac" that has three versions...a freebie, a regular one for $10, and a "pro" for $20. I just have the freebie and it seems to work pretty good, it still misses the "launch" every so often, but it works probably 95% of the time.

Cool I'll give the freebie a try first. Free is good! Thanks for the input.

oh sweet. just got an android phone and found 'aDyno' app. its free so i'll check it out!

I use an iPhone app called "Trailguru". Pretty handy for recording ride paths and stats.

Today, I played hooky at lunch and rode up north and checked out a biker/BBQ place. Here's a record of the ride from my home to lunch. Pretty cool.

I'm on my third iPhone. Only because I always want the latest and greatest. I am such an Apple junkie... They must coat these with cocaine or something... lol

Next for me is an Apple TV.

I have Dynolicious and it works pretty well. It's best if you can have someone hold it though as it needs to not move at all.

There's a lot of awesome apps out there for both the Droid and the iPhone.

Siri is a really good one as well as dragon dictation if you like using your voice to email or SMS.

I have an app called KEEPER that holds all my usernames and passwords and is password protected.

GPS drive is a good cheap GPS app.

Snap tell is cool because you can take a picture of a book and it'll tell you what it is and where on the internet it is and for what price.

Photogene for photo manipulation

Camera Zoom for uhm... Zooming...

The coolest one of late is AutoStitch which allows you to take say 2-25 pictures and stitch them all together to produce a panoramic photo. Pretty F'ing cool IMO.

I also have the Motor Trend, Discovery Channel, TLC, and Food Channel app on mine.

I also have XM on it. Works DAMN good. Nice to listen to the news.

Chris

Here's the first photo I stitched. You can see keeping it straight is key as you can see it's a little off but not bad for a first try IMO.

Problem is that the iphone's camera blows. My 3 year old Verizon phone takes better pictures, and all the "zoom" app does is crop the viewing window, then blow it up. So the more it zooms, the worse the quality gets, and it's pretty ****** to start with. You're better off not zooming when you take the picture, then crop/enlarge on a computer if needed. Digital zoom is the biggest waste of time ever.

I don't use a whole lot of apps, pretty much just the eBay one, Pandora at work, and a couple games. My old Verizon phone has a "song ID" program that came with it, and is totally free- that's the only program I use on my actual phone.

What pisses me off about my iTouch is that is has an FM tuner in it's wireless chip it uses for wifi/bluetooth. Apple is just a bunch of douchers and blocked it off. Why? Who knows. It's already in the hardware, and every other mp3 player on the planet has an FM tuner.

If they got the iPhone on Verizon's network I might consider it. One of my friends has an iphone, and in the Adirondacks his coverage absolutely blows- as in no service at all in lots of places my phone still works. Espically since where I work/live in the summer, his iphone had no service. That's a total deal-breaker for me. I have full strength signal on my Verizon at the same spot. Plus the iphone is next to worthless (except as an actual phone) if 3g isn't available, which is anywhere outside of major cities. WIFI is so widespread now, you can find a network virtually anywhere- then it's free, and way faster than cell coverage.

My iPhone has a 3mp camera and is really as good as any other 3mp camera on a phone. I don't buy phones to take pictures. The new 3mp camera focuses as well which helps a ton. No doubt AT&T can be hit and miss but they have an app for that... lol It basically helps them determine dead spots. It's like any carrier. They all have their high and low points IMO. Verizon customer support sucks rocks. We used to use them for our over 200 phones but they didn't want our business bad enough to work with us anymore. We moved to US Cellular and AT&T.

Apple is marketing the iTouch as a gaming platform. Thats why they didn't put a camera in it as well. The Nano has the FM tuner and camera.

I can't wait to see what the 4th gen iPhone has to offer. The competition finally caught up so it'll be cool to see what they set the bar at this time.

Here's a video I took with my iPhone. IMO it looks pretty damn good for a phone.

No big deal, but seems really weird that they would include the physical FM tuner in the device, then block it from being used when it would cost virtually nothing, and would be one more thing on the features list. LIke you said they included it in the nano, so why block it off on the iTouch, which is supposedly the "flagship" of iPods? It's certainly the most expensive.

I've never had issues with Verizon support, at least on a single-person basis. For big contracts? Dunno. When my old phone's charging jack ripped out(I pulled the charge cable out and the jack came with it, instantly killing the phone), I called the support and got a surprisingly helpful lady, who baisically advised me to "play dumb" when I go to the store...said if you know too much about how it broke the tech at the store will assume you broke and make you buy a new phone, rather than get a free replacement. I did, waltzed in there like a blonde bimbo and just told them "it suddenly stopped working" and left it at that. They saw the jack was loose(I just shoved it back in there) and they gave me a new one free.

Maybe they improved the camera for the "s" phone. My friend has the regular 3G version, the photos always come out blurry and out of focus- really crappy looking, despite the resolution. My phone is only 2mp, and takes a long-ass time to "focus" once you press the button, but generally look pretty good so long as you don't blow it up too much on the computer. Videos suck ass though.

Yes the S has a better (focusable) camera. The S really means more than speed... :eusa_dance: With the new one it focuses pretty quick or you can move the box on the screen to the are you want in focus and it will focus on it.

I imagine that the new iPhone will have at least a 5mp camera but I hope the lens is of higher quality. I just don't want a physically larger phone. The droid is nice but it's square and when you put it in your pants pocket it just doesn't feel right.
