Any of you Techno geeks like Ninjaneer or the like know if we can somehow post pictures from an iPhone to this site under any category? Buster may know but I thought I'd put it out there. Maybe Tapatalk App is a way? I'd be a better contributor if I can do this somehow. My thanks in advance my fellow Maxinista's

Tapatalk works like a champ on the Android platform and it will let you upload images from the phone gallery or directly from the camera. I believe the iPhone version has the same features.

Just trying it out on my iPhone. If there is a picture attached then it worked!

i'm not sure if there is a special "mobile" version of the website (for example, mobile.vmaxforum.net), but PATMAX, you should be able to use your web browser on your iPhone (I think it's called Safari) to access the "normal" vmaxforum.net website. Once you're there on your iPhone, just interact with it as you would on your home computer.

i interact with the forum using the Tapatalk app on my Android. There should be one for the iPhone. when i'm on my smarthphone, i find it a lot easier to interact with the forum using tapatalk then with the native web browser.

hope this is insightful enough. if not, ask the questions.

so i just read that apparently safari doesn't allow you to browse your phone's pics. perhaps this has changed since the write-up, but....BWHAHAHAHA, now that's just plain stupid (i'm not the iPhone's biggest fan, if that wasn't clear).

anyways, here's another way, if you don't want to purchase special phone software. read up on the following. basically, you upload your pics to another server (i suggest photobucket) and then post links to them in the forum. the forum engine will resolve the link, download the image into cache, and display it as if the image "lived in the forum". the downside is, the pic must remain there for how ever long you want your forum post to be able to display the image. also there is a chance that the administrator's of the images' server (photobucket for example) could decide one day to change the URL of server.

{EDIT} I just posted this pic from my smartphone using tapatalk. am not sure, but i was only allowed to have it managed by the tapatalk host and not have it stored in the forum server (either something internally went wrong, or the forum admins don't allow it). but anyways, basically the image below is actually a link to the "real" one stored in a "tapatalk" server (similar to photobucket). however, the whole process was like only a couple of clicks. whereas using the method in my previous post requires you to
1 browse your phone for the pic
2 open the photobucket app
3 upload your pic to you preferred image server
4 get a copy the URL of image in the photobucket server
5 open safari
6 goto the forum website
7 create your post
8 paste your link

VBulletin produces a mobile version, similar to TapaTalk, except the coding is horrible and buggy. It is also expensive and involves licensing fees to Apple and Android. TapaTalk has an app for the iPhone and iPad and it is $2.99 from the Apple store.

I just bought the app I like it! I'll try posting a pic too...

Buster could you address this? when using tapatalk to post a pic, you are offered two methods: 1) using tapatalk's host, or 2) "to the forum". I tried to use tapatalk to post a pic "to the forum", but got bounced back. "posting" a pic by using tapatalk's host works.

I had the same thing happen to me, as long as it works on tapatalk's server I'm good with that...

i could be appeased as well, if i weren't so paranoid and anal about wanting vmaxforum.net-specific stuff contained within a "vmaxforum.net"-only box and not jumbled up with all of the data from other the tapatalk-supported forums. :rofl_200:just tell me to shut up :rofl_200:

Thank you to all you guys and your expertise. I'm sad to say I actually DID understand the technical side of this and feel somewhat like my Florida brother Ninjaneer in that I do not care for an "outside" host be involved in our "Forum" ongoings but if it is the only way get pictures hosted and posted, what else am I to do short of buying a computer and paying for another service provider! Arrghhh!
So it's of the the apple store to install Tapatalk. Why? Because I know how much you guys love pictures!!!
Maybe I can sell some parts too.
Again, thanks guys. I bet this helps more than just me.

I have a droid. Just bit the bullet and installed tapatalk. Pics upload easily with it. Just did it for the first time in my tail light thread.

I hate using my phone on here. I can search. I type two letters in the search box and I get kicked off the forum and it does a google search wtf. Im too dumb to own a smart phone, lol.

I have an account on the Tapatalk forum, I'll see if I can get an answer.

I talked to tapatalk and they say you should be able to attach pictures to your post. Are you doing it as an attachment or as a hosted picture?

I've had no issues attaching a picture to a post using my droid with tapatalk. Works the same as my PC. Actually, maybe easier. One click goes right to my gallery. They seem to upload quickly too. :eusa_dance:

Now, if I can figure out how to use the search function, I will be good. When I open the search box, I start typing, and before I finish a few letters my phone automatically directs me to my google home page and has those letters in the search box.:confused2:

I have a question, sometimes I use tapatalk to post pics from my iPhone but there's no way that I can find to put pics on my control panel or no way to create a picture album thru tapatalk either. is it possible? There's just no way to access the cp other than from a pc. Is there anything anyone can do to fix this? I guess Buster is the only one who can really address this, Thanks, Ed

What error are you getting when you try to upload pictures? I assume you are talking about an avatar if you are going through the User control panel. If possible, take screen shots of the error as it seems to help them troubleshoot.

just looked at the droid client. i imagine the iphone's client is similar. currently the client doesn't support the ability to interact with any forums' galleries, calendars, control panels, etc. just the basic stuff like threads and posts. not excluding the other novelities like the rudimentary profile management--but just trying to make a point that buster is limited to tapatalk's application programming interface (API). i don't think buster has any say as to what the client interface looks like or offers us. he can only configure the forum to hook into the tapatalk server so that our clients can exchange and display the data. so even if buster could setup the forum to provide "control panel" or gallery data, the current tapatalk doesn't support it. then again, maybe the client isn't displaying such things, because the forum isn't configured accordingly.
