Local dealer has an '09 Max on the floor. These guys are pretty tough to deal with (probably the reason he still has it), so I'm not overly hopeful about my chances of making a deal. But, I'll probably stop in and give it a go later on. :ummm:

It was raining and 46*F so bike was parked. Next project will be removing front end and repacking steering bearings. I'll probably hold off on valves until winter of '10. I'm at about 73,000 miles and aren't due until 79500 or so.

went out for a quick ride last night, roads were dry but cold also. a few times pulling away on a turn i ended up spinning the avon tire. mmm easy on the throttle i guess, also kept me in line from leaning it over too much. oh well, now gotta figure out a better way to hold 2 of the four K&N filters on, they keep poping off, even just sitting there engine not running. think i got a good fix for them, try it tomorrow and see how it works out.

Nah, the BKing went in the trade. I went over there intending to keep it and buy the Max outright, but they worked a pretty friendly trade with me. I think I would have had to hang on to the BK for a while to find just the right guy.

Anyway, after my research, I would never, ever pay over $17k for a new one, and I think you may beat that price if you look. (Especially folks living up north...) Dealer cost is around $16,200, and I think there are some pretty hefty kickbacks from mother Yamaha right now to the dealer.

Thanks, man. Sometimes you just have to say, "WTF." This was one of those times, I guess. Once you have a VMax, it just never leaves your blood. And getting another new bike reminds me, I have a great wife. She told me, "You might as well do it. You know you want it."

I took her out for a nice dinner tonight.
