Japanese engine difference?

Hey all. I have found a replacement motor locally (kind of) for my gen 1 VMAX after an oil pump seizure caused catastrophic damage. The seller of the engine has said it is a Japanese import. Was the only difference with the jap models the lack of v-boost or were there any internal differences?
Any info is greatly appreciated!

Thought it might be worth mentioning that it is claimed as a '92 engine with approximately 16,000 kms

As far as I know all differences were external to the engine i.e. V Boost, carbs and speed restriction.

Thanks MaxMidnight. That was the info I have been able to find so far, but I saw somewhere that it was mentioned that the cams could be different. I wouldn't think so though........
Also, the engine has prefix 2we which seems to suggest a US engine? Do Japanese engine numbers have a different prefix? I just want to be sure what I'm buying if I pull the trigger!

2WE is 1988 USA. It should have a number range between 2WE-0000101 and 2WE-0003000.

I found some charts that Sean Morley posted on here showing all years from '88 to '02 for US (excluding CA) starting with 2we. The one I'm looking at is 2we-022249. If I'm reading the chart correctly, that puts it at '92?
I just wasn't sure if Japan had a different prefix.....

I was looking at the frame number not the engine number. You're right.

Mine is a UK 2000 paperwork shows 2WE008....
