Life is not easy for an unloved kitty.....they pick that up very quickly. :sad2:

Yep, here is a "garage kitty" that I found about 2 years ago. He was probably 3 months old when he wondered into the garage, and set up shop. He followed my other cat around like she was his mother. I got him fixed, and he is now inside. He still has skittish moments, but he is way better than he was.

He (Tiger) is the first cat. The 2nd is Shadow.....and that is my baby girl. When melody and I spilt, Shadow got pissed off and went outside, and wouldnt come back inside for food or water. I finally found her about 2 months later.

Here you can see one of my bigger cats, Lou C, (thought he was a girl when tiny, and named him after my GM Lucy). He clearly has the upper hand on getting this darned armadillo to leave the yard. Great patrol cat, huh.

Here's two of Lou C's little sisters, Lolly Pop on the left, and Winky on the right, helping Shala do laundry one Saturday.

Here is Winky again making sure the frogs do not take over the koi pond in the back yard.

Here is Tuxedo (R.I.P.) making sure no more armadillos do damage out front.

And here we see Tux's brother, Boots, making sure no armadillos damage one of the living room chairs? We nicknamed boots - Chunky Butt.

I could go on all day. They're like kids.

But I will say this.....if you cant get a feral cat to trust you, you have really done something.

All it takes is food and patience .. I have joined a cat coalition here in Loudoun cnty Va we trap 4 times a year and have vet's and tech's donating there time for one weekend for free shots spay and neuter and microchipping pretty cool . I believe they are working with animal control (the pound ) about a no kill and are finding people to take these cats for full time either for barn cat's or just around their property ...

When Reba (my avatar cat) died in the fall of '13 I went to the shelter just to have a look....no intention of bringing one home, of course....just going to have a look.

They have a 'free roam' room for the cats with all kinds of beds and toys and other cat stuff, I went in and sat on a radiator cover and just waited to see what would happen. A couple minutes later this small, multi-colored kitty came over and laid her head on my leg and started purring. Then this big, grey long haired guy came over to investigate and the little one on my leg spat and delivered a lightning fast right hook that sent him scampering!

The shelter girl said "Well, looks like she's claimed you!" I made out the adoption papers and picked her up the next day....she's Mitty 'B' the keeper of the press!

Odd - how they make YOU fill out the adoption papers on Mitty, when it was, apparently Mitty who was adopting you Danny.

Man, ain't that the truth Jim!! You can feed, groom and show affection to a cat 24/7 but if they don't like you......that ain't gonna change their mind one iota. Think that's the thing I like about them the most, that independence....cattitude as some say. :biglaugh:

Here's one of Mr. Smokes enjoying the morning in a nice cool spot.

Notice the Vmax can coozie Shala had left lying on the countertop? Now it's Vmax related!

Yep, thats what I like as well. You can be mean to a dog all day long (although I wouldnt) and at the end of the day they will still come back to you. You say 1 cross word to a cat, they will stay mad at you for 3 days.....and take a sh*t on your shoes.

Funny, when she looks at me she almost always closes her eyes, never had a cat do that before but she's has done it since I brought her home.

Other than that she's just common, everyday feline royalty!

I have always been told that a cat that closes their eyes.....or has the slow blink when they look at you, means "I love you" or "I feel very safe with you".

I've heard that same thing Eric....if it's true I take it as a major compliment!

Can't remember any of the Ex's doing that! :blink000:..................:rofl_200:

You know, that ACTUALLY happened to the last X-wife. We had a cat, that was about 75% an outdoor cat, and he would still come in look around, eat, etc, and then head back outside. Melody said something to him that pissed him off.......and he really did take a sh*t on her shoes. A pair of shoes back in the closet. After she found them, I looked at her and I ask "What did you do to piss him off?"

One hundred years ago, and in a different life time, I travelled to Wichita Falls, TX to spend the weekend with my GF (Shala & I were just dating way back then). Her Himalayan cat, Oscar, didn't like the fact that he had to give up his side of the bed that Sat night, and showed me how displeased he was by climbing into my suitcase and wizzing on all my change of clothing. Got everything, he did. Did not miss a single sock.
