I bought the Kindle version of the Cyclepedia manual for the V-Max (the images in the Haynes manual are not very clear).
There are a couple of places, including carb sync (see attached), where it refers to using an inductive tachometer to measure the engine speed. The Haynes manual doesn't seem to see the need for this. Is the on-bike tachometer accurate enough, or is an external tachometer an improvement, a nice-to-have or a waste of time/money?
