Working at Intel and having recently changed sites here in Chandler, I’m learning who parks in which Motorcycle spot and who apparently has collections going because they begin to be readily apparent in some cases. Given that most of the engineering folks are working from home, riders tend to park in the same spot every day.

One fellow in particular has caught my interest. Today was the third ancient Motorcycle he’s come in on, and this time I was able to put a face with the machine. In his “spot” I’ve drooled over an original Knucklehead (patina and all) and a beautiful old Indian Scout. Today as I was pulling off my helmet, an old <'31> Henderson 4 rolls into his spot. Sheesh. An older restoration, but nice. And it smelled like an old Motorcycle should. Like gas and oil. We chatted a bit, exchange names and numbers and he asked me if the black café Goldwing was mine. (It is). I said who else would park in my spot? We laughed. Apparently he’s got a couple more that aren’t exactly rideable. We are kindred spirits I think, but he lives in a different era… Even though he’s probably 20 years younger than me!

That is one hell of a collection !

By the way, have made contact with the fellow who started this thread with the antiques. We will be visiting each other’s respective shops soon as we share common bonds with both Motorcycle’s and semiconductor development.

He sent me a couple of photos, one in particular is of interest and it shows a motorcycle I forgot he had told me about. He did the 2018 Motorcycle Cannonball Run on this thing! A 1917 Thor!!! 1071F765-4DF6-45E6-B768-B04FCD7F1771.jpeg

I was up to 10 at one point, but maintaining and insuring them was killing me! I've spent the last couple of years cutting down to the 3 I want to keep. My 05 Vmax, 15 Vmax and 18 Venture TC. I've been through 3 different gen 1's and gen 2's to get to my favorites. I just got the 15 a couple weeks ago with on 52km on it (yes 52!). Now resisting the urge to dial up the speed a bit until it has a chance to break in! For once all of my service needs can all be accomplished at one shop rather than several and my insurance bill is reasonable.

Another true Yamaha fan ! Nothing wrong with 80 + Yammie's sitting around ! It might be my favorite brand but there are so many other really cool bikes from other niche's and era's I like to have others to ride and drool on. I don't have anything considered old but if someone has anything really old for sale I'd be interested.
