With that kind of HP, be sure you have the neck bearings adj correctly - wouldn't want any high speed tank slappers.

My father collects and restores old stationary engines, I grew up around them and going to vintage rallies almost every weekend in the summer - in fact the Innishannon steam rally is on this weekend and its only down the road, a good excuse for a spin
 
What does it do??........make coffee or something??

They were used on farms for all sorts of power generation, driving farm machinery, milking sheds, sheep shearing sheds etc.
All that steam you see is just heat loss through the fact that it is passively cooled
and relies on a head of water in the tank to spread around.The return pipe is now located under the waterline, it doesn't steam as much as in the clip. I had just got it running and hadn't fabbed the return .
