Motor will not turn over. the fuel pump and boost controll cycle as normal but all I get when I push the star botton is a feww clicks. Acts and sounds like a weak battery. Installed new battery full charged, same problem.
Only thing I've done recently is R&R the carbs to clean float bowl.
Anyone been down this road?:ummm:

^ This- Check all battery cable connections, make sure everything is clean and tight. Check your voltage, should be at least 12.5 I think at rest.

Post a youtube vid of the clicks. We'll get it figured out faster that way. I vote a starter cable issue, too, at this point.

Thx,
Voltage checks out, bat. cables clean and tight, ground at motor connection is also good. I will see if I can trace cable from starter
solenoid to the starter motor (not sure wher it is located).
Can I try shorting across the solenoid terminals to check if I have good power up to that point?

You can try that. I did it searching for electrical gremlins. Somewhere on here there's a picture of somebody touching a wrench to both terminals.

That would be me. If you short it and it works you just need to buy a new solenoid and problem will be solved. You and I will both owe Miles a beer at that point.

Link to my previous troubles, end result was starter solenoid got fried by faulty RR.

Oh starter motor is on front of bike behind horn / above oil filter area. Try shorting the solenoid first, it is likely your problem. Removing the starter is a PITA! (So don't do it of you don't have to)

You don't have to wreck a tool or send sparks to the battery and top of the gas tank. Unplug the blue and white striped wire at the bullet connector behind the battery. Ground the side gong to the solenoid. Color code may vary on newer year Gen 1's. If she spins over, the problem isn't in the solenoid, starter or
starter wiring. Make sure your in neutral because you'll be bypassing safety switching. Not a bad way to spin when doing a compression test also.

I meant to say that...

I agree with Pat......he's got a hydro lock. If it won't turn jumping the solonoid, he needs to pull the plugs and spin her over. If he lets it sit long enough the gas will eventually work it way thru the rings and into the oil system. If the oil level goes high, I would change the oil and filter.

I only know this because "I've done this!"
And change the oil like Alorio said. Ask me how my old Triumph knows.

Thanks for all the advice. Turns out I did short the starter solonoid before I read some of the later posts. She turned over and seems to be working fine. I will check the oil level as suggested.

Ive got same problem on hot restarts cranks slow its great when hot it cranks hard any one help im going to check ground on engine an add a extra grond from battery to engine and test battery any one else have any ideas..bigmichael
