It's because the people who believe in and vote for those who promise more free stuff, now outnumber those of us who still believe in earning a living. As long as the free stuff keeps coming, they will roll over for anything else, Constitution be damned. This country is rapidly evolving (devolving) into a socialist state, where the gov't will have total control over our lives.
The illegal immigration situation only exacerbates the problem. Several states now allow illegal aliens (excuse me, I mean undocumented Democrats) to obtain a drivers license, and I fully expect this to eventually lead to full voting rights. 12 million new liberal voters will tip the scales to an irreversible majority, which will bring an end to life as we know it in the USSA.

I was raised as a Democrat, because I was taught that they were the party that helped poor people (which we were) get ahead, and the Republicans were only for helping the rich get richer. Then when I was old enough to vote and started doing my own research on candidates and their platforms, I realized that wasn't the case at all. Can you name one Democrat in office who isn't a millionaire? Yes, I know, most Republicans are also. The difference is, conservative Republicans believe that it helps the entire country if more people do better, whereas the liberal Democrats try to keep their constituents relying on gov't handouts in order to maintain their continued tenure. "Vote for me and I'll get you more free stuff. Why work when you don't need to? I'll take care of you."

So was I. My dad was the president of the postal workers union in W.F. Texas. I still know what AFL-CIO stands for. It was after I got out, and experienced life that my views changed. My Dad was democrat, but even he admitted this one time. "I identify more with the democrat ideals, but the country seems to do better with republicans in charge of the country."
