Mismatching tires is another one of those things that I think you should really try to avoid. Front and rear treads are often designed to work with one another, particularly in the rain.
ME880's are generally regarded as the overall highest quality tire out there for the Max. As said, the Shinko's are a bit grippier, but also wear much faster, crack with age, and are known to need LOTS of weight to balance.
Going from a Bridgestone/Avon front/rear combo that came with the bike to ME880's was like getting off a HD and onto a GSXR. Night and day difference in handling and the wobbles in corners vanished.
