New (to me) Vmax, some parts to come off. OEM Backrest value? Windscreen value?

That's exactly what I'm looking to replace my OE backrest with, the stock grab-rail.

So Holeshots are just re-badged Jardines? Huh, didn't know that.

I'd ditch that huge windshield and see about getting one of the smaller "flyscreens". The OEM ones are kind of tough to come by and are pricey, but I know Givi(if not others) makes a replacement that looks almost the same. Makes just enough of a "pocket" to crouch behind at speed.

The holeshot/jardine slip ons give a big-block v8 sound...so many people have told me my bike sounds like a 454 or a 502 or a 460 or something like that. I'd rate the volume about a medium. Definitely louder than stock, but not so loud that cops take notice(have gone through bike checkpoints no problem).

The kerker system is LOUD though, if that's what you're after. Personally I don't like the sound as much but some love it so you'll have to listen and choose for yourself. The Marks 4-1 also has quite a bark but IMO not as loud as the kerker.

I'll have to go poking around for some clips of the Jardine's/Holeshots. I'm really pretty sold on the open capped Supertrap sound, as far as slip-on's go. I want loud, but still deep, not open header cackle.

these supertrap slip ons sounded great. They had 13 plates on the ends. They also were tuned perfect.

But this was the best sounding vmax I ever drove. People all over town new when I came up main st. There was no sneaking around with that bike. 4 into1 kerker. Drove it for 11 years.

Now if you only had need for an OEM backrest and windscreen and had both the grab rail and Super-trapps for trade...

I've got new powdercoat Grabrails in flat black with all the casting flash removed or newly chromed grab rail both with lights and reflector plate available for trade plus cash. PM me if you want pics.

I'll keep you posted, but I'm not really looking for chrome, or flat back, just the stock satin finish.

Get your grab bar, sell your stock back rest and buy a HAC back rest. The HAC back rest is Super easy on and off and looks much better then stock IMO.

My wife snuck behind my back while I was deer hunting in 2008 and traded it in. Hell, I was still buying parts for it in December. Come Janurary she surprised me with the 09 on my birthday. So went the '01 Super-trapps and all. The 09 is another level. Oh, it also has a payment book. I'm up in Geneva every thrusday afternoon, we probably could work something out.

I don't think his current mufflers are but Holeshots original systems were jardines for the slip-ons and Hindles for the header. I think he has them made for him now but not sure who's doing the work.

I want a '09 too , has she got a sister ? :rofl_200:

Factory Backrest??? Depends on condition and how desperate the buyer is.

I've seen $200 to $500. $200 for one that's rough and needs powdercoating. $500 for mint, cherry, all but new...

Windshield / screen, Cracked, Not much value except maybe the brackets.

Modded stock exhaust won't satisfy you for long, been there, done that.

Supertrapps are a very good compromise. Sean Morley has some reasonable too...

Hey Dave I thought the same thing when I modified my stock exhaust, But after riding the bike, To me it doesn't sound farty at all, at tech day let me know what you think,And please be honest. "Maybe I just have a magic helmet that makes it sound good to me, LOL " Friggin bike sounds like a small block Chevy when cruising"

Sean...your right about Dale's old stuff, but now he does actually builds his own exhaust since he moved out of Cali.

As an update, I may have something worked out on the backrest towards some credit with Morley's Muscle which I'd apply towards Supertrapps. The windscreen isn't something Sean is after. I have a grab-rail at a fair price locally I'm going to take. So, if somebody is interested in that windscreen, by all means shoot me a PM. Or if you're interested in the back-rest. Or both. Or if you've got Supertrapp's or something close in the sub $400 range. I will setup a formal for-sale/trade post.

You guys have been most helpful. Thanks to Sean for all his off-site e-mailing.

those windshields for whatever reason sell on ebay. i wouldn't expect to get more than $50 with shipping tho for it.

That's all I expect out of it. My windshield is 2 inches from my eyeballs and thats enough for me, but I'm sure its very nice to cruise with. I will absolutely keep e-bay in mind, good heads up on that.

if it were me i'd hold onto it honestly, might be nice if u plan on riding in the cold weather. takes 2 secs to take on and off.

That's tempting, I already tend to ride earlier in the season than most folks around here, and I was still touring the Finger Lakes in November. I just have a hard time with it aesthetically.

haha 30 degrees and 60 mph i bet u won't care what it looks like!
