Hi Gents,
This is Julian, I live in Santa Clara CA, I do ride Honda Valkyrie/ ST1300, I would like to have VMAX motorcycle in my garage, if anybody can give me some orientation for a good deal that will be highly appreciated.

Yamaha has a long history of weak second gear, in certain models. Of course, the 1-2 shift does tend to be the most violent, when banging it hard. Yamaha uses helical cut gears a lot, in their transmissions. They shift a bit smoother, and tend to be a tad quieter, compared to straight cut gears. But straight cut gears tend to be stronger, in my opinion.

Every forum for every bike I have owned has threads about a "second gear problem".

This isn't unique to Vmax or to Yamaha.
