Oil pump function

I tried to figure out the function of the scavenge pump that it a part of the engine oil pump. I read the manual and it looks like it scavenges some return ino the pump one more time?:confused2:
Anybody have a clear idea to enlighten me please...

The secondary pump (scavenge pump) I believe it discharges through the small port on the main pump body that has the separate feed tubing that goes to the stator housing?

I think its preventing the oil(to much) stays inside stator housing.

On the spearate note, ventures pumps dont have that extra scavange.
