I?ve used electric over air systems for years. I put them on all my bikes and when my 09 Busa gets here I?ll put one on that just with a co2 system. I built a system for a guy who liked to cruise with his feet on his crash bars. I set him up with an onboard air compressor that would turn on & off automatically. He would just cruise and hit his horn button and the bike would shift. He would have to down shift.
I agree with Lankee that the full benefit would come from the track. At the track after you launch there?s no messing around with your feet just get them up quick and tuck your head and just press the button when the shift light goes off. I have another system with a RPM activator that shifts the bike for whatever RPM you set it for. Track use only with that gizmo. All the Pro bikes I?ve ever seen all have an air shifter so there must be some sort of advantage to having one. I don?t see any Pro riders using any electric shifters so what?s that tell you. Another advantage of an air shifter is you can easily get replacement parts.
