Powder coating scoops

Hi fellow Maxers. I have a question I was hoping someone might have addressed. I would like to powder coat my air scoops on my 2006 vmax. I'm concerned that they won't stand up to the heat during the powder coating process. Roughly 400 degrees. Has anyone tried this? Thanks for any help on this.

What are yours made of? Mine were aluminum, so no problem. Powder coating seems pretty rugged. A fanatical prior owner of one of my bikes even had the sidestand powder coated and it seems to be holding up fine.

It's an 06 so I am not sure because I'm away from home I won't be able to check. At first glance I assumed they were plastic.

I have an ‘06….they’re not plastic if OEM.

Powder coating temperature 200c
Melting point of aluminium alloy > 600 c
Goes without saying remove the rubber parts.

Certianly will. I have a few pairs around here that we do exchanges with and might have a coated set ready to go (including side covers, carb slide covers and other parts).

I was going to powder coat my set. Have a few fine scratches I'll need to clean up. I appreciate the offer. The bike is really clean bit my bike tipped on its left side one day when I parked it on some soft gravel. As I was walking to the gate the kickstand sunk in the gravel! I was not happy. Otherwise I'd have no need to sand the left scoop. But the left stock chrome muffler got a small ding which drives me crazy because the pipes were spotless. You wouldn't happen to have a left stock muffler in excellent condition would you? Thanks.

No, you cannot easily swap-out an OEM either-side muffler. The exhaust is 4 header pipes, and a combined, welded-together resonator box/twin megaphone system. See #43, below. Note the OEM system has both a cross-over pipe for the front headers and the resonator box for the rear megaphones. There is an aftermarket twin megaphone, by Delkevic, which has a cross-over pipe instead of a resonator box, and two separate megaphones. Wait, I took a look, and that is no-longer available. Here are the current exhausts from Delkevic for a Generation 1:

This one may be the best of what they have, now, a slip-on for a quieter presence than the shorty exhausts they also have, and being chrome:
