Here is a product that will do most everything. It's new on the market.

The problem is it's pretty much useless without a very good dyno like a Factory Pro that allows you load the engine at a steady state to make changes to the fuel and timing mapping, throttle plate openings etc. Even with the right tools it takes many hours to develop a good tune. So, if you have access to a real good dyno, it would probably be a fun project. Right now all of the pipe and intake combinations have pretty much been covered with GuruedGears product line so they are really the most cost effective option out there. Plus they are VMax specialist's and a company that I trust completely. If you change your pipe or intake a flash update is only $45, so after your initial purchase it's pretty inexpensive going forward.

Guhl is $375 and offers free upgrades for life with their flashing and I thought he said they did Gen 2 Vmax's. So if you did change pipes , you pay shipping your ECU to them and they install the update free of charge.

Really good thread on the Woolich Setup. They had a data logger now with is now the bomb for tuning in real world conditions. Dynos will probably be a thing of past for people with these auto tune features happening more or less.

Totally agree with Mark's comments above. Using Tim Nash's (GuruedGear) expertise to get the proper ECU reflash for the exhaust changes I made was a "no brainer" and best upgrade IMHO that I've made to my Gen2. In this VMax speciality area of ECU changes.... there is none better out there than Tim. :punk:

Yep!!! What Jeff said.

If I buy a Gen 2 The first thing I would do Is take those ugly *** mufflers. Off. Then I would probably go with a Brocks And a good Dyno tune. I like everything that Jeff has done to his bike but those ugly mufflers got to go Jeff. you do have a nice bike Jeff.

They WERE ugly *** stock mufflers til I put those exhaust tips on. Now they're bad *** mufflers Mike ! :rofl_200: Wasn't impressed with the exhaust systems out there at the time I removed the Cat and had the ECU reflash, so I kept the stock ones. If I were to replace the stock mufflers today, I'd probably go with a Hindle system like Mark (Itgoes) has. Looks and sounds sweeeeeet !! :punk:

I have had power commanders on other bikes , going have vmax ECU reflashed , Seems like the Autotune was designed to optimize fueling on the bikes ... MPG is the last thing to worry about if your a Vmax owner ... I was just telling buy buddies the other day ... Yupp got the max for the fuel efficiency and having one baddest bikes on the planet was a after thought .
The FZ1 in combination with a reflashed ECU and Power Commander is the route I'm going to have to go Ivans in NY is the Tim Nash of FZ1's and seems like he has his sh*t together .
Just picked up a WR250r for playing around offroad and thats going to get a PC ... found them pretty cheap site called Motomummy $265 ... great price .
Most likely just going to ride the vmax stock for this summer and gather parts ... have enough other bikes to improve .

My thoughts. For the last 8 years I've had a chassis dyno for cars. I've tuned naturally aspirated , turbo, blower and nitrous. Before that a bunch of engine dyno stuff. 40 years of racing and building cars and bikes.
An engine is an air pump. It does not know what it is in/on. Car,motorbike, atv, weed whacker etc.
It needs air, fuel, compression and spark.
It's up to the tuner to find what it likes best. Give the engine what it wants for A/F and timing. Nothing is set in stone.
Things like fuel octane, compression, weight, gear and wind resistance all are factors in what A/F ratio and timing to use.
Other stuff like combustion design, cylinder flow, engine temp, air temp , boost level ......etc........... are factors as well.

That being said..... I love the PCV and auto tune, and MSD for tuning atv's and motorbikes.
The dyno is a great tuning tool, BUT there is also driveability and fuel mileage to consider. I know some say "who cares about mileage". A good tuner gets both.
My wife has a 2013 Victory Vegas 8-Ball. Stock had a lot of off idle surging and stumble. I have my stock 2004 V-Max. We go riding and when doing a 50mph roll-on,I walk away from her. After I re-tuned her bike, it now walks away from me. This is from 50mph, I'm in 5th gear 3,000rpm, she is in 3rd @ 3,000rpm. I know if I dropped two gears I would walk away from her. My point is after her tune it changed her bike big time.

With auto tune I can tune each cyl for timing and A/F. Factory tune was as if they clicked on the complete map and set it @ 13.0 A/F every rpm and throttle position. I took out fuel, added timing. 1800cc with over 100 lbs/ft stock, now take away some fuel to have A/F of 14.2 and add 6* timing. My god did it ever wake up. I also added pump shot for better throttle response.
Because her bike is air cooled I run the rear cyl a bit richer to help it run cooler as it does not get the same air movement. After 2,000rpm in 3rd gear I run the same A/F as there is lots of air movement. I also remove 2* timing in 5th and 6th gear after 3,000 rpm because they are over drives and you are going 90 plus mph so the wind puts big load on the engine.
There's more to the tune. But just giving a general idea.
The Victory picked up 4-5 mpg and no bottom end surging either. This was not about trying to make a race bike. It was about driveability.
Throttle response is amazing now it will roast the rear tire .
Her 700 Raptor is the same. I took out some timing in 1rst gear to help with traction but added pump shot and timing in higher gears.

I like to measure time to rpm on our dyno. If a motor revs faster under load you accelerate faster. HP#s are not always "Bigger is Better".

Those who had the Nash reflash. Is your idle steady at around 1,000 rpms? I've noticed the idle on mine with the reflash for voodoo pipes is 1,200 to 1,400 rpms at idle. If I put the bike in neutral it idles at 1,000 rpms.
