My favorite schemes are the black one and the traditional yellow and black & white stutter-stripe one. Nicely-done, the lot. I think Yamaha adopted the yellow body, b & w/stutter-stripe for the 1973 racing season.

I'd like to see that 'over-the-cyl. heads' exhaust bike up & running at a H-D convention, there's nothing more-annoying to the hard-core H-D guys than to see a 'ringy-dingy' two-stroke dust them off. Just the sound of it can curl their lips, and fear what is to-come.

Can you post-up a pic of your coupe in the garage? 3 or 5 window coupe?

Funny you should mention H-D convention as there is a show in April that is run by the local H-D biker club. The yellow rd and black rd bikes won 1st and 2nd at that show 2 years ago.


I will get some pics up of the rod, 1937 Buick 2 dr slant back coupe.

yellowandfast those are some nice bikes, the saw is cool too. That yellow is probably the color I would want. Are there any rd specific forums out there?

See any resemblance? I used to see this bike run in the early 1970's at Hialeah Speedeway, which is a suburb of Miami FL. The Allisons of NASCAR fame had that as their home track. It's gone now, but I used to go watch the motorcycle flattrackers there, and they had stockcars too.

Those are beautiful bikes. A friend of mine had a RD 400, and he let me test drive it. It was GREAT!!! something that I will always remember, and a RD400 is a bike that I would love to have.

Or the Rd350? The 'sunburst' head was a popular accessory, I think DG Products (?) made them, maybe others. Zundapp and Sachs used a similar design, I'm pretty-sure.
