Rear lights issue

Hi All! Yesterday after a quick stop I came back to see the rear light on, fully on, if I was using the breaking system. However, the ignition was off and the key was out. Then when I started my V-Max the rear lights were completed gone even when braking.

I will try replacing the fuse but it seems to be a different problem as the rear lights were on without the ignition key even on.

Has anyone had a similar issue?


ps. Thanks to this forum I managed to fix most issues such as replacing a deficient R/R and the idle not stable due to the carburettors . Thanks all!

I start with the ground and the hot connections.

Sounds like you have a hot lead making contact w/the lead to a taillight filament wire. Pull the bulb and try another bulb, and if that isn't helpful, start tracing the hot leads for the two filaments back from the fixture to see where they're shorting out.

Check out the brake switch and its connectors.
