How-much $$$ do you have to-spend?

Performance Suspension has a # of choices to suit your pocketbook. The 412 series is better than OEM and kind to your pocketbook. Their 440 series was the 'premium' choice, but I believe has now been replaced. Probably almost 2X the 412 price. Morley's Muscle (below) has a great price on these, if you want a quality shock w/o spending $$$, this is what I would recommend.

An OEM-compatible choice, easy on the wallet, cheaper than the dealer's (by far!):

First upgrade:

If you ride two-up a lot, this is probably a good choice, since it's easy to adjust to different loads:

These links aren't the cheapest, I'm giving you a place to start.

There are other shock suppliers. Penske if you want to spend Big Bucks$$$. Our bikes aren't circulating the racetrack, so you don't really need to go overboard here.

If you do 'like to go-overboard," start here:

I'm running standard length progressive 444's. Good value and apart from the spring rubbing the shock body they seem pretty good.

I got the 444s and love them... Night and day difference over stock. Although, anything is better than the stock shocks.

go for the progressive 444's from Sean...he has the best price. Spend a little more and get a lot more. I love mine, they look cool and support my weight perfectly while I sit on the bike in my garage drinking vodka and dreaming of the day I can actually get it running again and ride it. I can barely feel the back wheel hit the ground as the bike pivots on the center stand and the wheel makes contact with my concrete garage floor.

Do any of these aftermarket shocks offer adjustability? Compression and/or rebound damping, or preload? I feel like a non-adjustable, one-size-fits-all shock wouldn't be enough of a change to be worthwhile if I can't fine-tune it.

Wow this some good info thanks for posting it.

Whats a good rear shock want to upgrade mine?

thanks

A few weeks ago I upgraded from progressive 412 to 430 that I got off of Amazon $378. I would let the 412 go for $200 with less than 2k miles on them. PM me if your interested. 11.5" chrome progressive 412

Edit: $150 412 progressive
