If you posted those terms as applying to Dave, I don't know whether either of them would apply. The first would indicate that he was banished or banned, and I think he probably left the US under his own free will, for his own reasons, misguided though they may be.
The second assumes that he was at one time an actual patriot, and I have no knowledge of that, one way or the other, though due to his posts I may have suspicions.
