With the exception of a couple cosmetic details Sallymax is done!!

I took her out for a blast yesterday, looking for wobbles, twitches or any other indications of a terminal structural disease....nothing!

No sign of any wobble up to 100 mph, back down to 20 mph. It handles like it's on rails (for a basically stock bike).

Plenty of power, v boost is kicking in at 6500 just like it should, all in all, I'm very pleased.

I want to mention all the guys who sent parts & pieces (without even being asked, I might add) and their contribution.

Alphabetically:

02Moneypit- Front header pipes, front & rear foot pegs, crashbars and shift lever. He also sold me (for about 1/2 what it's worth), the front end off his '02 which has Race-Tec springs and gold valve emulators

COPRUNNER- Signal lights and mirrors from his '06

Mark Milne (Maleko)- For his technical knowledge and endless patience in putting up with questions like "Mark-can you tell in the pic if the frame is bent?" Yea...Right!!

Maxcruiser- Fork brace from his '06 ADDED 4/28....Maxcruiser also sent me a radiator grill which came yesterday...Thanks Again Mike!!

Sean Morley- For his patience in reviewing pictures and offering advice

Thevmaxrider- '97 Front wheel from Snomax and Metzler ME 33 Laser tire

Tom Colby-Cycle One Off- For transportation, packing and shipping the front end and front wheel & tire

Vmaxride06- For letting me borrow the front header pipes from his '06 so I could find out if Sallymax would even run

You guys helped to make this whole re-build happen, all I can say is Thank You All Very Much!!! :worthy:

Nicely done Dan-o! Just need that red stripe on the front wheel or even better a black stripe to cover the red on the rear wheel and it'll look mean as hell.

Good job for bringign her back to life! So you're gonna keep two bikes now?

Well Done My Brother!!!

And special blessings for all that 'helped' him get it done... You ARE the ones that make this forum the very special place it is....

Danny, I've seen 'stick on' wheel striping of various colors available on the webb...maybe ebay... Keep the front wheel 'original', and match the rear... great job on your painting! The 'scoops' and all look great!

Now ENJOY!!

U P

Thanks G & U P! I was hoping for some suggestions on how to handle the red stripe, or lack of.

Tell you the truth, I've been leaning toward blacking out the rear too. I even have the black stripes already.

I'm also going to leave the lower fork legs silver, like the way they look.

looks great danny... handles even better than mine! hahah

i'd say cover the rear rim with the stripe. i am not a huge fan of the red pinstripe...

glad to hear its up and running...

hopefully the ball and chain wont' start askign which ones goign up for sale! :bang head:

Another vote for the black stripe!! It looks unanimous!! :thumbs up:

No problem with the forced sale, my wife loves '99' and knows I'm not going sell 'Sallymax' so we're good to go!! :biglaugh:

Awesome. Looks great.

Thanks Tom, that's, by far, the nicest thing you ever said to me!! :worthy:

Danny, great job on getting Sallymax back amongst the living. I'm sure she will treat you special for that.

The radiator grill came back to me via Canada Post - even they don't know why? - Sending it back out tommorrow to you - or atleast hopefully to you!

Mike

Don't get used to it, Danny. I had a post all ready to go involving wrenches and wenches, but I thought better of it. Weak moment, I admit. :biglaugh:

Thanks Mike, I wondered what had happened but hated to say, "Hey Mike, you know that radiator screen you GAVE me for Sallymax? Well, where the hell is it?"

Thanks for doing that for me, I appreciate it, Sallymax has a smile too!! :biglaugh:
