I was thinking of seafoaming my 95 vmax. I just bought it with 7K miles and it's sit a lot. Would this be a good idea to seafoam? If so, i've never used the stuff so what would be the steps of using it?

Put in Oil & gas tank? Then suck some through the vacuum hoses...let sit and start back up...let it smoke...then change the oil?

Run some in the gas tank. Don't put it in your oil. If your pilot circuits within carbs are still acting up, let us know and we'll tell you how to do Paul' Peashooter method. Just need eye dropper, straws and Seafoam.

Honestly, my carbs aren't messed up :ummm: I just thought maybe it would be good for the bike?

So just throw some in the gas tank? Is seafoam about the best cleaner to use? After i throw it in the gas tank, would i still need to change the oil? :bang head: sorry for all the questions

Yep, put 2-3 ounces in a tank. I just fill a shotglass and dump it in at fill-up. Seafoam is the best over-the-counter stuff. BG 44K is even better but it's very expensive. You can only order it online or go to your local Dodge service shop. My local Brake Masters carry it but not sure if they'd sell it to me anymore. Seafoam cleans your entire fuel system and cleans the intake valves pretty good.

Yep, oil change is separate. Every other oil change I use a 1/2 quart of this:http://rislone.com/engine.htm
Works great against engine sludge.

Great thanks Maleko! So no need to change the oil after running it? How about fuel filter?

Nope, no need for oil change unless it's due. Check the fuel filter, if you can see dirt or if it's a dark orange/yellow/brown...replace. Here's the filter I use, it has a replaceable core...plus the it's glass so it's easier to see if it's dirty. It's a Purolator #806. You can get it at your local O'Reilly's or Advance Auto.

risolene basically is kerosene

Shawn, quit interrupting me.... lol
Now hurry up and get your bike together! :rocket bike:

ooops sorry Shawn, I was a lil out of whack, It was Kevin (I think), Who has a Girlfriend that rides a Fazer too, I was thinking about. LOL! Sorry for the mix up.
On a Ride during Bike Week, Kevin hit a dip in the road and his radiator grill, a custom chrome one with a Skull with teeth on it grabbed his front fender, the fender hung up right in the teeth of the skull. He damn near wrecked because of it. But thankfully he got the Bike stopped on the sidewalk. It was just freaky to see it happen. It looked as though the evil skull just chomped on his fender.

Wow That is funny!I have the same stainless grill with the skull and teeth. That does not sound good that it can bite the front fender.

Yeah his bike is lowered a bit. You may want to test yours and make sure the fender does not touch the radiator guard when the front end is compressed all the way down.
Funny thing was it wasn't even an extreme dip or bump that did it. Luckily one of the guys riding with us, Herb, had his tool kit and Kevin had to take the guard off to get the fender out of the skulls mouth.
Skulls are evil. LOL!

I know Kevin and his girlfriend too.I think that he has stock springs with the forks dropped in the triples 2 inches.I have racetech 1.0 springs in mine,2 inch lowering blocks.1.0's are supposed to be 2 1/2 -3 times stiffer than stock.Springs also get weaker with age.I am glad that he did not go down from this.I am going to bounce mine to see how close it comes. It never seemed to be an issue when I pulled the front down all the way with a strap at the strip.

Your probably good then Sean.
I must once again apologize for taking a thread off topic. My apologies to Khuenefeldt.
To get back on topic though...
I use Seafoam in my Chevy Z71. Everyone in the Chevy Forum I'm in raves about it. But I suspect it's not the all mighty miracle cleaner everyone claims it to be. It probably does help clean the fuel system a little. But after reading Michael Belluomo's article in the VBoost, I emailed him and asked him specifically about Seafoam.
He didn't say it was bad, but he said in order to get the best results with it on cleaning the intake system, I would need to use a special tool that slowly meters it into the system so the Seafoam doesn't get burned off before it has time to clean the intake components.
So my take on his recommendations are that Seafoam doesn't hurt anything, but it probably isn't the best product for the job.
So I'm going to start using the BG44k.
I figure if I'm going to spend money, it might as well be on something that works. And besides nothing is too good for Baby.

I also have used the BK44 and found it to work great. The back of the ZX 11 intake valves tends to get a build up of carbon and the BK 44 really helped clean it up.( valves are easily visable with the carbs removed and the intake tract is huge):rocket bike:
