For those who may not be aware, the US version service intervals are 4000 miles but the Euro version service intervals are 6000 miles. Yamaha UK were not forthcoming with a reason when asked why

perhaps it's the fuel octane ratings or our wetter air washes contaminants away faster

I'm pretty sure its the conversion of miles to kilometers....4000 miles = a little over 6000 kilometers. They always round service intervals to easy numbers, hence the round down to 6000.

Good thinking but no. First pic below is from the US handbook and second is from Euro handbook (taken from different parts of the maintenance schedule), which show both miles and kilometres.
