Shifter shaft seal, use sealers?

replacing my shifter shaft seal. Does anyone recommend using a sealer in addition to the round seal?

No if the shaft is not worn or bent the seal should suffice.

If you mean on the outside of the seal? Yes, for sure.

If you mean on the outside of the seal? Yes, for sure.

+1, but just a light smear.
If possible also check that there isn't any significant wear on the shaft where the seal contacts which will reduce the seal lip pressure.

I use Yamabond4, but any high temp. silicone type sealer is good.
