Shocking question

Hey guys I am changing the rear shocks but would like to maintain the stock height. Which progressives are suitable for that? 11 , 11.5 , 12 , 12.5 or 13 inches?

Another question guys, which model would you prefer, the 412 or the 416 gas shocks?

412 are just bit better than the stock ones from what I head so I went for the 414. Get the best you can afford

Old saying goes get what you can afford.. I run the 412"s better then stock but when I do a overhaul of my 85' I will upgrade..

I have the 13" 412's and like them for the price. They work better than stock and are durable. Since I'm not using them to their fullest-extent, they do OK for my uses, If you hammer hard on the curves, then you might be more-satisfied w/the upgrade to the more-$$ ones. I ride the curves pretty-hard at times, and don't feel as-though I am cutting myself short w/the 412's.

I have a pair of nearly-new 11.5" 440's I never mounted because I didn't want to lose ground clearance.

I can't comment on the new Progressive shocks but I run the 12.5" 440s from a couple of years ago. They made the bike much more predictable and it feels more planted than it did with the stockers. I don't really notice the 1/2" lower height all that much but it does make it just a tad harder to get up on the center stand (putting a 2x4 under the rear wheel helps)

I'm running the 444s - 12.5in. Made a HUGE difference over stock. I also didn't notice the .5in drop.
