No...they are rubber..BUT, and I know this from personal experience...The FIRST upgrade that I did to my brakes was steel braided lines. IT is EASIER to lock up your brakes in a panic stop. Believe me...I did it...

*laughing* So, should I upgrade to steel braided then!? I have already locked up the back brake when transitioning from my TBS to my Vmax...

The braided lines eliminate the mushiness from the feel of the brakes and makes the application of brake force much more linear. Because the lines don't expand, you truly get all of your braking pressure applied to the calipers.

Not that it is all that hard to lock up the rear, even on a stock brake setup, the braided lines make it very easy.

Yeah, I think I will stay with my "mushy" rubber ones for now. I already have enough trouble learning the new braking system given I am used to a much lighter feel...

OH....I was taught early on "from an experienced Vmax rider" use the front brakes first, all of your braking power is actually up front, if you need more, then use the rear. If you have problems with the front end diving....etc...the install aftermarket springs...progressive...racetech...etc.

Also locking up the brakes is NOT a good thing, you start sliding and have NO control at that point. After I changed to steel braided leaving everything else stock, I locked up the front brakes 3 times in a panic stop. You want MORE braking power, without locking them up.
