Delrin, its a type of plastic. It can be machined. So its so hard its not going to feel any different that aluminum ones.

Only drawback is if you pound on them during install they can be broken if your the clumsy ham fisted sort. Since they are very hard they are conversely also brittle. Definitely not an issue once installed.
I run them along with braces.

Rusty, I have been considering adding frame braces in addition to the solid motor mounts that I currently have.

Did you notice any improvement with both braces and solid motor mounts versus just solid motor mounts?

i guess in florida since we dont have curvy roads we dont see the need for all the frame bracing and radial tires and all the other mods for handeling i read about. and for that matter most people here must be supeiror riders because my stock vmax seems to handle great and have more capability than i do as a rider. although some of those mods do look awsome! espacially the R1 front end i have seen here.
I'm glad you said this! I don't know very many people who ride on the road everyday that push their bikes so hard they feel the frame flex. I did get the frame braces from Morley... but I like the looks more than I feel it will make my daily commute anymore of a knee dragging event...
 
I could tell an improvement with the frame braces...it just tends to track better with the frame braces. Its not like you can feel the frame flex, but AFTER you put on the braces...THEN you see bad the frame was to begin with.
 
The stock Vmax definitely has flex issues in the front forks, frame and swing arm especially in consideration of the amount of horsepower it has and that it is shaft driven. It is noticed more if the bike is pushed hard, but it is always there.

In the immortal words of Lankee Yankee; "it's a frame flexing wobbler"

One of my last improvements will be done this winter, a braced swing arm and than I can say that my max is gonna be about as good as I can get it.

I could not tell you the difference between the two because I did them both at the same time, but it did help the corner wallowing thing ALOT.

Even before doing them didn't have much if any wobble except at 130+ speeds having done springs front and rear and good "setup" on the neck already.

It was most assuredly "buzzier" and annoyingly so to the point it was numbing my hands and had to pull in the clutch to see out the mirrors at anything approaching highway speeds.
Kuryakyn ISO Grips got rid of most of the hand numbing part. The mirrors were still a problem.

I am sure the Solid Mounts have a lot more to do with the buzzy stuff than the braces, so by you adding braces I don't think your gonna see any more "negatives" than you may have already.

When I went to the Pro-Tapers with the cross bar it got rid of all of the buzz pretty much. I can see out the mirrors and ride forever w/o hands going numb now.

When I did the rear swing arm and the radials it seems probably as good as its going to get, no wallowing at all in the big sweepers, Rock steady every where except a slight weave (not wobble) at speeds approaching 140+.

That could be chased down as well perhaps but honestly I just don't ride that fast, this bike is just not built for that now matter how many pairs of belt and suspenders you put on it. At least not for me. But at least now it never gives me those "oh ****" *** puckering moments.

I realized that after spending a weekend on Michaels "Train460"'s Hayabusa and realizing what a properly engineered bike feels like at extra legal speeds, mines good enough, but it'll never be a sport bike.
 
I installed just the front 4 solid motor mounts & left the backs stock. Planning on putting them in at a later date. Too my surprise I have no vibration, so I may just keep it that way. I did put this in before I did the fork brace,braced swingarm
 
I put delrin mounts in my '06 with no noticeable increase in vibration....and no noticeable improvement in handling either, for that matter.

My '86 PCW 1260 has aluminum motor mounts and there is a lot of vibration altho this could be characteristic of the 1260...:confused2:
 
I did frame braces braced swing arm and solid motor mounts at the same time wish I had done it years ago vibration is there but the handling is so much better p.s. Dannymax my carbs worked out great thank you
 
Solid mounts was well worth it! I dont really notice any added vibration and the bike feels much more solid when getting on it, dont feel it flexing beneath me. Id do it again and help others to do it on fhdir bies as well.
 
I bought a kit from esper in japan, called engine hangers.
They bolt to the outside of the front lower engine mounts, normally it's only connected on the inside. Adding the plate " tightened " it up.
