how'd it get into a different box?

I'm kinda curious about that myself, maybe Customs I thought but not sure. I don't want to open it cause then they'll try to get out of resending it. I just know it should have arrived in NZ on Thursday or Friday and Steve said he'd be back home from a trip this coming tues or Wednesday so I'm pretty certain it's not fixed especially cause the address label was written by ME. I'm pissed cause I really hoped to get this back together before the end of the month so I'm hoping with some serious bitching that they send it a quicker method but also don't want to piss them off and have it mysteriously disappear either. WTF!! What do you think should I bitch or not. I just know I'm not paying a dime to resend it! I already paid once to have it sent to where it started out. Ed

i'd first go in and understand what happened, they might offer to get it done right. then i'd complain that the 'guy' its supposed to get to needs it there by x, y and z, maybe that'll do it. then bitch.

my $.02 tho. i'd ask about this magical box.

Okay took it back to the post office today and after the supervisor came out he said he understands why it was shipped back to me because I actually wrote my return address on it and somebody misread it and no explanation for the magical new box though but now they're shipping it to him. they said he should have it in six days from what they said. but I tried to get it there quicker but they wouldn't do it.

did you confirm that no parts were magically missing?

I thought of that also, but I didn't want to open the package in case they would say they wouldn't resend it because I did open it. It's actually my whole transfer case with the gear/sprockets and chain inside the case. They'd literally have to take out about 16 -20 bolts to remove anything from the case. Besides that, it actually gained almost a pound w/ the new box. And they actually CHARGED me almost $5 more because of the added weight. But to be honest at this point I just wanted it shipped without pissing anyone off too bad in case then they might purposely lose it. I just want this done and with hopefully no more issues. You'd have thought they would have at least admitted that THEY ****** up and sent it a faster method but that's our gov workers not exactly in the public relations business. In other words they could give a **** less. Guess that's why UPS can get 3X more for the same service. Cause if I could have afforded it I would have tried to get my money back and went with a carrier that would actually give a ****.

yea they are quite a bit cheaper. i've found none of them give a **** either.

so their excuse was because you're return address was on the box it got sent to you!?

Most of the time they do well with my overseas shipments. Haven't lost one to the weasel or steve. Only a couple of really delayed packages but I have no control of customs at all.

Sean

Yea Garrett, that's actually the excuse they gave me. Because I wrote : Return: with my name and address someone definitely screwed up and sent it back to me. But all will be right again as soon as Steve let's me know he received it. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get it back before its too bad of weather to get it put back together and at least 1-2 rideable days because I had to do it outside of my place and now my bike is completely wrapped up cause I didn't want to mess up the gears taking it to where I store it for winter. So now it's on a jack outside my house. But I have faith that Steve will come through with a solution to my problem and next year I'll be riding without any worries at all. And I'll probably just let Sean get me my Tires I need as well. I could probably get them a little cheaper but those would be Dunlops and Sean said he can get me Avons and besides price, I owe Sean BIG time so I'm gonna try to buy as much from him as possible. I believe you should definetly support guys like Sean and a few others on the forum here that go way above and beyond to help us all out.

Ed,

Any clue as of yet what direction you are headed to resolve your current problem? Inquiring minds want to know...lol.

Yea Todd, my transfer or sprocket whole case is enroute to Steve in New Zealand. Again. Hopefully somebody doesn't see my return address and send it back again. But I hope when I open the forum in the next few days I have a msg that he received it and he sees the item of my nightmares and he can redo what MadMax failed to accomplish. But I'll post pics of the reinstallation. Ed✨

Ed,

Just curious if you got this issue resolved. Also wondering what was done to fix the problem.

Todd, here's a pic that Steve sent me. He made the sprockets bigger and also added a tensioner. Now just waiting for it to clear customs here in the states then I'll put it on image.jpg

Looks good Ed, tensioner should have been there to start! good luck.

Thanks Rick, I think I'm wearing a path in my carpet by the front door waiting for this to show up. lol, but yea, I'm psyched to finally have this where I don't have to have a tow vehicle following. Well, maybe that's a little bit exaggerated but I'm sure you understand where I'm coming from if you've followed my journey with my bike. But believe me I'm gonna make up for lost time next year. I've got a few things planned before it goes to the World of Wheels show in late January. Here's a sneak peek at one of my mods I'm in the process of image.jpg
Let me know what you think of these. They're a lot of work to make ( by hand) but they are definitely one-off.
And THANKS AGAIN KJ for a cool idea.

oooo neat knee guards!

Ed,

You have got to be worse than a kid at Christmas right now. It looks good, hopefully it takes care of the problem. Let us know how it works. Just remember you always have that other option I mentioned. This was the easier and cheaper repair without a doubt. Hopefully you will have a reliable ride once again.
