You have to trace all the old leads to match them to the new speedo/tach. Remember, for every bit of info you read, there is connection. Eg, turn signals, fuel level, oil temp, water temp, brights, etc. There is a simple magnet that goes o. The rotor that sends the speed signal. Tach is taken from a coil wire. Date and time are about the only items that don't require a hook up. Then you have to calibrate the signals you are getting by going through the computer logic built into the instrument hence the studying. I say if you can read an electrical schematic, you can do it! +1

With Koso speedo that i have IMO evryone can do it, no problem here.

which is better and more easy to install ?

- separated tacho and speedo
- having a all in one like the RX2N ?

Or it's just matter of cosmetic...

Hi Satariel666:

I have the same Koso speedometer you have, but not being as good at electronics as you are has made it difficult to install for me.

I'm trying to figure out which wires exactly on the bike I connect the brown and red wires from the Koso unit to. (I have connected the black (ground) wire properly.)

I contacted Jon at vmaxbitz.com, and I connected the wires exactly as he told me to. I connected the red wire out of the Koso to the brown wire out of the ignition switch, and the brown wire from the Koso to the red wire out of the ignition switch, but now, the blue backlighting on the Koso is on, even when my key is not in the ignition!

What have I done wrong?

Thanks very much.

Elimax

He told you wrong.

RED wire form KOSO should goes directly to +12V(battery) and the BROWN wire form KOSO should goes to the BROW wire form the ignition swith connector.

Hope this help.

Thank you! I appreciate it.

Did you actually extend the red line of the speedo back to the battery, or just connect the red line of the speedo to the red line of the ignition switch connector?

Thanks again!

No problem E.

I connected RED from koso to mine alarm box couse its close to ingnition box.
Honestly it dosnt make a diffrence where you will connect the red wire from koso,
it should goes to +12V like: red wire from IGS connector or directly to the battery etc.
It should be connected permanently to +12v.
Choose the place by you self ;)

hmm :) I'll be buying the gauge today... have been hesitating with buying it...

So, spectacular news... I ordered the gauge! Should be completed today (Jon emailed me saying so) so I should have them next week/following.
