Thanks for all the replies. I have one lined up, hoping to pick it up Sunday. I've already done the crimp fix, had already soldered the stator output wires directly to the r/r input wires and replaced the r/r with a stock one, and have a good battery. I should be good to go with the new stator.

Here's hoping anyhow, its been almost three weeks since I rode last and I'm goin crazy!

Ok, I got the new stator in, soldered the wires to my r/r wires, hooked everything back up, dumped oil back in and fired her up last night. Still not charging. I must be missing something. Is it possible that the r/r has gone bad again? Its only a little over a year old.
Tonight after work I'm gonna recheck connections, measure voltage drop, etc.

I'm going to measure the new stator output before the r/r. I can meter it for AC voltage right? Its been over a month now since I've been able to ride, and I have a big ride planned for 7/31. Looks like I may miss it. I'm so disgusted. I barely slept last night thinking about what it could be.

Follow the charging fault finding guide. It's a sticky in the electrical section.

I already have it printed out. Gonna start going through it tonight after work. Thanks!

The Ricks stators seem to work better than Yamahas its the same part number for the Vmax or Venture. I can get them for $ 125 plus shipping & the new stlye RR's for $ 68 bucks. The holiday will slow down my ordering a bit just PM me if I can help you. Thanks,Kyle

That's a good price Kyle. I paid a lot more for a late 90's RR. But, problems are gone so i'm a happy camper. 13.45 at idle with fan on. Crimp fix done, connectors and grounds cleaned, new cheapo sealed batt (on 3rd season)$56,original stator. In cold weather I use electric gloves with no problems.12 volt recepticle for cell phone. No issues with charging even with add ons.

Just thought I would update this. I got a spare r/r from Bill Kratzenberg, through it in and all is well. I also ran a new ground wire from the r/r to the frame and a new charging wire straight to the battery. Its better now than its ever been.
This winter I plan on upgrading to the newer style r/r. And also probably a vrod headlight, after seeing Bill's, and since my hid quit this morning. One thing after the other I guess.
Tomorrow is the big ride I was talking about. Should be about 400 miles round trip, so it'll be a good test of all the things I've done lately. Hope it all passes the test!
Later all!
