Hi all:

In one of the past posts, one of you mentioned a "sticky ring treatment" for sticky piston rings....is that a chemical additive? And where does one get it from (Autoshop? Or ordered it online?)

Thank you.

Through the years, up here we have done a few things to free up rings. If pulling the piston wasn't an option;Kerosene, seafoam, oil flush treatments were used. These are added to the oil, then the engine is brought up to temp, then the oil is drained.

Another method is pour some marvel's mystery oil in the cyl and let it soak. After a good soak, crank the engine with out any plugs in it to clear the cyls.

A friend of mine did some wierd thinking with his Kaw H1, that was sitting for quite a few years. What he did was;
remove the oil drain plug and put seafoam in the cyl. then pump it full of air using his leak down kit and allow it to soak in for a while. This was repeated a few times in the offending cyls. When he was done, he put some seafoam in the fresh oil and ran it for about 40-50 miles, then change the oil. Compression went up a little and 99% of the smoking stopped.
