Thermal underwear are a great thing! It's been 25 to 30 degrees when I start my morning commute, bike starts right up and runs great! Anybody else riding in the cold?:rocket bike:

I really enjoy riding in the cold.I did 150miles a few years ago in 10 degree f.

The main thing is to let the bike warm up good before leaving and to remember your tires will not perform very well because they never reach their proper operating temp.Things can get slippery real fast.This was part of my problem on saturday.

Aw yea!!!

35 here in SE Idaho this morn.
Hands get a bit cold on 12 mile ride to work, but with
"Spudmax" It's a quick trip.
We have a "Turkey" run in NOV. Now that's cold.

yeah Im still riding. I generally put my bike away only from the last week on Dec until early Feb. During that time there is too much snow to get out

I ride as long as the temp is above 0 degrees. Used to commute to Ft. Knox in winter. Once it was minus -15F when I left the city and it got colder in Kentucky. Surprised I didn't get frostbite. Last year finally bought leather chaps, gloves, vest, boots and jacket. What a difference. Bring it on, I ride all year long here in tropical sunny Cincinnati (NOT) as long as the roads are dry.

I ride as long as it is above 32 and its not raining or likely to be real icy. I've only got a 5 mile ride to work with few curves. I'm in Andover, MA , bike is near garage door. Wasn't bad last year, I drove every week at least once. I don't like the salt getting on the bike, but not going to be a prima donna either.

I rode for a few mile this morning, was about 38F. I hate the cold!

That's about my limit now, too. Or, at least until I get some more appropriate gear. Living in Texas the last 13 years has made me hate the cold.

So far, it's been pretty nice. I did, last week, finally have to close the vents on my jacket. :)

Pfft!! You softies, it was 10 here this morning and I still rode to work!!

Even got up to a wopping 17 degrees at about 1:00pm. THen the clouds rolled in and it dropped again.

You = tough customer.

How does the bike start when it's that cold?

Better than it does when it's been running for a while (damn hot start issue)

Should also say that my last post was a joke. Temperatures here are measured in Celsius.

10C=50F
17C=62.6F

Though I have ridden in -4F before. **** that was not fun. Call it Commute Weather, as in the only time I'll be on the bike in that is on my way to and from work.

Really? So far, mine is a bit temperamental and needs a bit of coaxing to get running when cold (garage temp, around 50 or so), but starts like a champ when it's hotter than H (after a short stop, fan running, etc.).

OK, I bit on that one hook, line and sinker. :)

lol I get my mates back in Plano with that one all the time too.

Your Vmax is much newer than mine (1988) so they could have gotten the hot start thing sorted in those 19 years.
I could also be needing a new battery. Checked the charging sytem and that's working fine.

I miss Texas weather sometimes. That good old summer heat. Nothing like it down here. Good tradeoff though cause no matter where I am in the whole country I'm never more than 2 hours from a beach.

A heavier oil viscosity will also make cold starting a bit harder. In cooler/colder temps, a 10W30 will perform better than a 20W50.
