I have a few revolvers I was told by some gun junkies to stay from semi's in the taurus handgun.. they may have improved since then not a bad price but I would hate to have a jam in a jam
How many rounds do you need to shoot w/o problems to consider a gun reliable? I don't know.

I've had this 40cal Taurus for over 10 years and has never jammed.

I have a PT40 Taurus. Never a problem with it. No jams. Eats whatever ammo you throw at it(though finding the ammo at a good price has been the trick lately). Its accurate, fun to shoot, and never had a jam. Couple misfires though, but mostly due to cheap ammo.

Now....on the other side of the spectrum....I have a PT22 Taurus. This thing is like an old diesel. It needs a warm up phase to start operating normally. This gun is a top load/ACP mix. It likes to jam and misfire all the time till its warmed up. I bought this gun mainly for pigeon plinking. I got his PT25 brother at the same time for next to nothing. These little caliber pistols are not what I would use for a life and death situation. They are strictly target pistols.

My 1911 is my main pistol. Does not like hollow point ammo but will eat any regular ammo you throw at it. This gun throughout my tenure has went through 10K rounds plus and has killed many many thousands of feral hogs. I replaced the barrel at around 7500 rounds cause the rifling was beginning to be hard to see. Its a great reliable gun thats never let me down.

Close in kills. I have Texas Blue Lacy hog dogs. They flush and bay them. I come in close(2-4 feet away) and I dispatch them. 80% of my kills are like this. The farther kills are done with a modified 30.06.

Hogs are so focused on a dog going nuts on them, they rarely see me. I just wait a few seconds till the head swings away from me and I get them generally by an eye or behind the ear.

I guess, 1911 is not part of competition.
