Hey all

I recently did the fender chop on my Max and needed a brake light. I wanted it to fit in the spot where the reflector was. So I searched and found the one that Donn (Lank Yank) makes. Well fitment was great and the quality was great too. I had a little trouble grounding it because my rear section that the light bolts to is plastic and the light is made to ground itself to the frame. There is the metal grab rail that is bolted to the sub frame and then there is a plastic piece bolted to the grab rail that is the reflector mount. You can not mount the light properly if the plastic piece is removed. This may be a year model difference...some are plastic some are metal. Anyways, all I did was make a grounding wire for it. Awesome light. Here is a pic of the tail. BTW...got my garage set up with some pics too.

John

I like the look you got there. Kinda imitates the look of a sportbike tail, with the passenger sitting seemingly in midair with nothing under their ass but a seat.

SWEET RIDE!

I love the look of a bobbed v max! I'm working on a similar scheme, but with a shortened fender and a side mounted plate.
Looks great FLD!! :biglaugh:

Add a hugger fender to complete the look!

I am glad you like your LED taillight. I am sorry if you had a grounding problem, you should have let me known I would have paid for the shiping both ways to add a ground strap...
If you remove that plastic piece and take some minerial spirits top it with some elbow grease it polishes out to chrome.... Little secret that Yamaha decided to paint later.
Yes, I do sell them cheap, compared to EBAY 65.00+ and that stick on crap.
I have 2 left if anyone else wants an LED tail / brake light with a ground strap, it worked on mine without but I will add ground into my mod on the next ones I sell.. I am glad you like the LED setup.

No worries here. I see what you are saying now. If you polish that plastic piece (thus removing the paint) the light would of grounded itself to that. The paint on the plastic piece is the problem, correct? Sorry, it took a while to sink in...lankee did e-mail this info too:confused2:

I do like that plastic piece being black instead of chrome though. The light is so worth the money I didn't feel inconvenienced at all adding a ground wire. Definitely like the LED setup and that thing fits perfect in that reflector spot. :punk:
