The small backrest does not rise

I have a little problem. Lately I need three hands to access the gas cap, and I only have two. I pull both rings but the damn thing doesn't want to take off. I have looked at the screws and the springs and everything seems to be fine. The seat is original, there is no modification. Everywhere I look, I'm sick of asking for help every time I stop at a gas station.

Pull the handle on one side while slightly pulling same side mid section then repeat other side ..works for me and yes we did come up short with just 2 hands in my opinion

You might try some CRC 5-56 or silicone lube on the 'V' track that the seat bolster moves in and the hardware riding in the two V-slots. You have to lift each side equally after pulling the rings. It can be 'sticky' and not want to easily pop-open. When the springs work properly, it will 'spring' open.

That's usually a Corbin seat 'thing.'
