Ok, here it is, I just finished putting the new grips as my final mod this year but hate them so now I'm looking for grips that actually GRIP. But the other mods came out ok for what I did. Here's a few pics. Although I'm getting mixed reviews on the knee plates, I like them but am considering having them chromed. But I do like the remote controlled LED's especially with the breathe setting...
Also noticed it ran a little warmer than usual on the maiden ride. Any ideas why?

nice very nice, like the wheels a lot and forward controls. The color is awesome. I like the over all picture. Are you finished other than changing grips?

I like the orange LED's, they look sweet. Not sure why it it would run warmer than usual. How hot was it? Perhaps a coolant flush and new thermostat are in order?

You may be right Bob, just kinda funny when I had it at the show it was fine but it wouldnt hurt to flush it all out. I also bought some Seafoam and might run that through as well. As for mods, I'm not sure I'll ever be done. I'm buying some real high end custom forward controls and will be selling mine but I gotta take mine off send them to Fla so they can make my new ones to fit perfect then they'll send both back. Then I can sell mine. But I have a few more pieces I ordered on the way so once I get them I'll put them on and if I like them they can stay on if I don't they go in my not fit for the bike bin. My knee plates were iffy but I had to over rule the family panel to keep them on but still may chrome them. But Sean figures about $100 each to chrome them. Thats kinda hard to swallow when they only cost about 1/3 that much to buy. But we'll see. And Thanks everyone for the compliments. This thing looks unbelievable at night!

Looking good Ed! The accent lights are sweet but I personally don't care for the knee protectors. JMO but they seem to detract from the overaul look of the bike like something you would see on a dirt bike. That's with every V Max I've seen them on. Also didn't you have the Iso grips on your bike before?

Mike

Yea Mike, that seems to be the opinion of a lot of people about the knee plates. So now I'm thinking I may have a set made with a different design. I think its the holes that give it that look so I'll have to design a different idea for them but the do make it nice especially with my forward controls to squeeze them with my knees to hang on around bends but the quality of the aluminum wont polish up nearly as good as I'd like. And yes I had ISO kuryakyn grips but they just feel too fat for my hands so the search goes on for grips I guess but the new ones feel like in a dream when your trying to punch someone and you can't get your hands to move! Lol, well that's the feeling when you try to throttle and they just kinda slip through my hand. After 5 minutes I knew even though I like the look, they gotta go.

Really nice bike! Clearly many hours spent detailing and contemplating design elements.

Regarding the knee plates, I feel similarly to a few of the other posters.
Have you considered painting them black? I think you'll find that they'll visually fall into the background, and be less 'disruptive' to the lines and flow of the bike. Right now, they're visually in the center/ middle of the bike, and therefore take attention away from the other design features of the machine. Visually loud. Of course, it's my opinion only, but the cool thing with the vmax is the nice scoops that draw attention to the bike... the knee plates take away from that, and their lines aren't consistent with the scoops.

For your grips, would something like this help out (bosses/ wings for the palm of your hand)?

Bike is looking great Ed, Led's really set it off...
I'm with Lugan on the knee guards, they take away from the scoops and the lines of your bike. I would p.c. them black :twocents:

Looking forward to seeing it in person soon :clapping:

Yea, they're Vgas carbs and they caused a big issue mounting the knee plates and I also had to cut half moons into the knee plates to go around the stacks. I think I'm gonna have to redesign and chrome them to fit the lines of the bike more. Unless I do go black with them. Nothing ever easy. But I guess when you get to this level of custom, it's a whole lot more work to be original and still keep the lines flowing. And thanks Bill and everyone for the compliments and constructive criticism.
