Throttle Response

I know I saw a thread about cruising at 4000rpm then crack open the throttle, what gear are you suposed to be in and what are the end results.

4K in 5th gear...hold steady for 5 sec then whack it WOT quickly. Should be no delay/hesitation..if there is needle is rich
