Gamorg. I have a 2 x 4 with a piece of carpet on it. I just put it inbetween the tire & the rubber pad. It works great. If you space the rubber out it might be to far out when you do big tires like 240's that is why I just stick with the 2 x 4. Your gonna be in for a challenge the first 200-240 you do some of them can be a pain. I got it down to an art now but you will cuss with the first few.

i follow. so does your 'shovel' hit in the middle of the pad too? seems from some pics online the coats and such hit more toward the edge.

maybe a 2x4 will do the trick, like you said, but you've never had issues with the shovel hitting the other side of the rim?

good thing my dad just got a m109r. i'll convince him to replace his tire first and practice, heh.

No problems with the shover hitting the other side but I have been doing this for a while for at least the last 5 years I have ben using the 2 x 4. The coats machine I had at harley hit about the same place these do. Changing the 240 is probably gonna be a 2 person job for you untill you get the hang of it. Call me when you start cussing.LOL

sounds good i'll see what a protected 2x4 does!
