To Pass Or Not To Pass?

Alright, I can admit I'm a somewhat aggressive driver, but I found I don't fit in very well here in South Carolina. I'm here temporarily, but have found that many drivers here don't care if they get to where they are going or not. Really! In fact a couple times I drove around cars stopped at a green arrow! NUMEROUS times in my rental car I have legally passed other drivers on a two-lane highway that were going 10 MPH UNDER the speed limit. Many times they honk their horn, flash their lights, and once a guy driving a [very slow] pickup honked and shook his fist out his window at me. These people are going 10 MPH UNDER the speed limit, and I'M the jerk? C'mon... That's what passing zones are for, right? Maybe they just don't do that down here.

Im a lead foot and a jerk driver...If they cant find their foot on the gas,find THEM in your rear view mirror! Got poeple to see,speed limits to break and gas to burn! I would say pass...might even go so far as to stick a sign on the right window of your car that says "if youre reading this the gas is the one on the RIGHT".LMAO but hey Im from California,not home of the most friendly drivers.

Let me tell you ... I feel your pain friend.

I live in Oregon and everything you describe sounds very much like what I'm used to seeing here.

I've lived in California, Utah, and Arizona, and in those states, folks drive at 10-15 over and if you plant your ass in the fast lane and are doing the speed limit, or god forbid UNDER the speed limit, you are gonna get run over.

So now I'm in Oregon and discover everything you stated above. It's like folks don't even care if they ever make it to work in the morning. Weird.

Well, I've been here for 6 years now and I gave up a long time ago and just started passing cars. Now its a game for me. I have fun with it. Sometimes folks do nothing, sometimes they drift over toward me, sometimes they speed up, that's my favorite, and sometimes they honk and piss me off.

I'm quite certain that the cops have been called on me at least a few times. But guess what. Not a single ticket or phone call or visit from LEO for passing slow assholes that are putting down the road in front of me.

So I say, pass away. Pass all the slow bastards. Hell, I even pass those big groups of burley harley drivers putting down the road. Pass the traffic and make a game out of it..

It's just as bad here with hispanic people. They drive really S-L-O-W

The further south you get, the worse it is.

I'm talking going 50-60 on the freeway with a 70 speed limit.

They also don't seem to know the right lane is for slower traffic.

Hispanic women are the worst.

To be honest, old people are almost just as bad, but I usually give them a break.

And no, I'm not racist, these are just my observations.

I just hate stupid people in general.... well, more so today because I fell like crap and my idiot tolerance is NIL! I think I upset a blonde in our office, I can't be certain, she's not speaking to me anymore? Stop being stupid!!

Hear hear! I couldn't agree more. If I am in the left and I see somebody coming up behind (which is rare, but does happen on occasion) then I get over. Its that simple. Its the law, its the considerate thing to do, its human decency really.

But these "left laners" which seem to think it is their duty and obligation to "control" the low of traffic just drive me up the wall. Ugh.

BTW: I haven't posted for a while because I've been looking for just the right max. I'm driving to Washington this evening to check one out about 70 miles away. I'm taking cash ... so if a deal is possible, then we'll just do it right there.
