I finally got around to removing the old lollypop signals, but when I began the install I was baffled by the wire colors on the new ones. I understand the wires coming from the bike (blue = running light, black = ground, brown = left turn signal, green = right turn signal). Unfortunately the three wires on the new signals are black, red, and black w/ white stripe. Before I go blowing fuses I was hoping to get some feedback.

My guess would be black to black, red to brown/green, black w/ white stripe to blue?... I tried searching this forum and a couple others but was unsuccessful.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Glen

If you have a multimeter, the easiest way is to open one of your new blinkers, take the bulb out, then test which wire is the earth/common, and which goes to each filament in the bulb.

That way you can't go wrong!

Pretty sure black with white stripe is ground, red is signal and black is running light but check them first as suggested. I use a car battery and just touch the leads real quick.

How do you test it with the multi meter? I have only used mine for checking my battery and alternator on the truck, would love to learn that continuity check.

Thanks for the feedback. I have a multi-meter, but I'm electrically incompetent. I think I'll try Scott's suggestion and plan on picking up a few extra fuses if need be....

Rusty, I junked 2-3 of the old lollypops as they where either cracked or chipped. I'll let you know what I've got left and the condition they're in when I get home.

This past weekend I made some decent headway on some mods I've been waiting to do for awhile. I installed a braced swingarm, venture rear diff, Sumitomo FZR 6 pot brakes, and SS front brake lines. Now I've just got to install these lights, wait for my spring compressor in the mail so I can switch from HD to standard spring rate (444's), back off my gold emulators 3/4 turn, trim my front preload spacers 1/4", and install SS lines for rear brake and clutch. I've never done so many mods at once. It should be an interesting ride when I get back on it.

The black with white is the ground and I'm sure as was noted the red is the brighter part of the bulb so use that for the signal.

Thanks all! I got my signals up and running yesterday eve. The black with white is in fact the ground.

Rusty, I threw my old blinkers out. I have some stock front calipers and HD444 springs that I can let go for cheap though.
