grumble grumble grumble! I just got by truck back from Ford, yes a dealership that I think monkeys could have done better. So well educated to plug in the litle computer and tell you what is wrong. Or they can try! Well they changed my torque converter out, it shifts better than it had in several years. Granted I have no problem paying the bill. Except when they tell you that the issue has been fixed... The so called ratteling is alot better than before they tell me. My Ass, sounds the same as the day they got it. They say it is a rod I say BS. You can put it in reverse and sitting still, the noise is gone. when driving and you are accelerating the noise is gone. if in neutral and keep it rev'd up above 1,100 to 1,200 RPM the noise is gone. It all most sounds like my engine is going to explode, or a rod knock... I spoke with my uncle who is a mechanic and let him hear it on the phone. I told him how it reacts in the gears etc. He said no way is it a rod, he is now thinking something is starting to come apart or is loose. Like a harmonic balancer , flex plate etc. But the great thing about the Ford Monkeys is they didn't even check the flex plate while they had it apart grrrr. Now the kicker, I went to leave and it was driving all screwy when I was backing out of its parking spot like the tranny was low on oil , surging ect. I am like WTF it wasn't like this when I brought it in. Well the monkey some how had it in 4WD low, but the knob on the dash said it was in 2WH . He had to go get his trusty PC to figure it out. I am sure that it was that way when they backed it out of the garage, what a bunch of freaking morons .At this point I have no faith in a "dealership" touching anything I own. The so called mechanic had no clue how to think without his computer. It was simply amazing, all he could tell me was , I plugged it in to my scannerand.... Also the same Monkey AKA mechanic tells his shop foreman when they were diagnosing the noise in the beginng. Well I took the inspection plate off and looked up in there with my flashlight. The torque converter just doesn't look right, I am pretty sure that is what is wrong with your truck. Wow! who of you can look at a torque converter when it is mounted in a vehical and actually see that it is going out? Anyone anyone at all? I actually was able to take part of the inspection cover off myself and stick my hand up in there to try to wiggle the torque converter before I took it to the dealer. Thinking that some how the converter had started to come loose from the flex plate but it felt pretty snug. Anyways enough venting for now.....
