Interesting....they seem split on it to like the "hyena-abuser" guys and the ZX14 dudes....

Qick general concensus of differnt group...

Some say ugly some say not pretty in a pit bull cool sort of way.

Some say specs (weight) missed the mark..

Some say "wait and see" on the perfomance while others are counting it out..

In the end it does what any great "thing" does...its dividing opionon and that is the mark of a "segment braker" as we say in marketing.... when a product cant neatly fit inro an accepted market segment there is usually this kind of confusion.....

I didn't buy my Max to fit in with any crowd, I bought it because I liked it. If I get the Gen II, it'll be the same reason.

The opinions of VRod riders should only be accepted when given regarding the aesthetics of the VMax tail light assemblies. They have earned their PhD in this field.

Great thread man,

i particularly like this post

I have a vrod, and a dyna wide glide. love harley's,but I will be selling my vrod for the new vmax. the vrod's cant even keep up with the original vmax's, and now with this new one coming out, our vrods will be like a scooter compared to the 2009 vmax. I know some of us are feeling frustrated that harley vrod cannot produce a superior machine like the vmax. but, hey! It dont take a rocket scientist to see what machine is more state of the art and baddass. not going to sit around with tears in my eyes calling the vmax fugly...... hell, Im buying one. maybe harley will take note and build something better someday. see ya in the rear view mirror. once they hit the showroom, the vrod value is going to sink anyways.

and another

its strange,
I remember the EXACT same criticism 23 yrs. ago when Yamaha released the 1st V-Max.
Its to heavy to be fast, it has a driveshaft it wont be fast. its too expensive and for the same money i can make my honda faster, its so ugly that it wont be fast, V-boost is just a marketing scheme and doesn't do nothing for performance........
and you know what... you were all WRONG, so wrong that it lasted 23 yrs. in production. how can you argue with that.

This is what I see, ITS GONNA BLOW THE DOORS OFF ANYTHING ON THIS PLANET.
like it did back in '85. and that production run STILL rules.
your lucky that all you people have 5 months to bash it, go ahead.
when its released be prepared to BOW YOUR HEADS... TO THE KING

I read through the first 10 pages and some have had their head in the HD hole too long :biglaugh:. Some were funny and some thought that it will never get to production!:rofl_200:

What I find interesting is that on this forum the debate has been about whether existing V-max owners would upgrade to / buy the new V-max.

On their forum a number of the guys said they would buy one.

So, how many other brand name biker forums have riders who are also planning to buy one?

Yep i guess we got a v-max because we love the style and not only the specs.
That's the only bike which cannot let people indifferent.
How many time we heard from people : "Oh shit what's that !!! it's a beast ??".
I'm sorry even if i can find the v-rod nice, never i will speak about it like i can do about a v-max :)

v-max is not specs, power and weight, it's a attitude and a spirit :)

Why is it I have a sneaky suspicion firefly has found a new forum. :a014:
Are you refering to that Stanteg guy? That's one vrod owner who is way too crazy about the new vmax!

My wife is a member on that site, the site just got bought out like a month ago by some corp. They came in and changed some stuff and added a ton of adds. Some people not to happy, hope that never happens to this place.

Yeah Right! Like Star/Yamaha is going to buy this site!
We all know Buster wouldn't sell... Right Buster!

I like all the "ugly" comments. Some of those individuals should take a look at their own bike and imagine all the people who think their bikes are hideous. It doesn't hurt my feelings at all. They're all jealous!!:biglaugh:

Your right RJ, women aren't attracted to smooth curvy "lines".
They find the rugged rough cut MUSCLE look most appealing.
It's been scientifically proven!
